Located in the same province, Changsha and Zhangjiajie are connected by around 30 high-speed trains from morning to night. The serving stations are Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, Changsha Railway Station and Changsha South Railway Station. The whole journey takes about 2-3.5 hours. Besides, there are also several normal trains running between two places, normally takes about 3.5 hours.

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (Pinyin: Zhangjiajiexi Zhan 张家界西站)

Located in the north part of Zhangjiajie City, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station is about 23 km to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (about 30 minutes by car) 9 km to Zhangjiajie International Airport (about 15min by car). Serving as an important hub station connecting Qianzhangchang railway and Zhangjihuai high-speed railway, Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station runs about 25 trains to Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, and other cities every day. It is a comprehensive transportation hub integrating railway, bus transport, public transportation, maglev and other modes of transportation.

Changsha Railway Station (Pinyin: Changsha Zhan 长沙火车站)

Changsha Railway Station is the oldest train station in Changsha, serving both normal trains and high speed bullet trains. It is located in the city center, about 24 km to Changsha Huanghua International Airport (40min by car), 13 km to Changsha South Railway Station (28min by car). With developed traffic system, tourists can get to the station by Metro Line 2 from Changsha South Railway Station, and airport express from Changsha International Airport. There is also maglev train running between Changsha South Railway Station and Changsha Airport.

Changsha South Railway Station is renowned for its modern design and extensive transportation network which serves for high speed bullet trains and also maglev train running between Changsha Railway Station and Changsha Airport. It is only about 20 km to Changsha Huanghua International Airport (25min by car), and 13 km to Changsha Railway Station (28min by car) . Tourists can get to the station by maglev train, Metro Line 2 or airport bus station from Changsha Huanghua International Airport bus station or by Metro Line 2 from Changsha Railway Station.

Zhangjiajie to Changsha/Changsha to Zhangjiajie Flight

There are about 6 flights departing from Zhangjiajie to Changsha/Changsha to Zhangjiajie all year around from morning till the night, served by Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport and Changsha Huanghua Airport. Changsha Huanghua International Airport (长沙黄花国际机场，IATA: CSX)

Changsha Huanghua International Airport is located in the west of Changsha city, 10 km to the city center (20min by car), with 2 terminals, namely Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Changsha Huanghua International Airport has a total area of 212,000 square meters, with two runways of 3200 meters and 3800 meters respectively, which can meet the annual throughput of 33 million people. It has more than 100 regular flights to 73 cities including almost all the major cites in China and other international and regional cites such in East Asia, such as Tokyo, Seoul, KL, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong and so on. In 2016,it has become a city offering 72-hour visa free transit for 53 countries.

Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (张家界荷花国际机场, IATA:DYG)

Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport is located in the north of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, China. It is the second largest international airport in Hunan Province, about 33 kilometers to Zhangjiajie Scenic Area (one hour by car). Zhangjiajie Airport has operated 11 international routes and 16 domestic routes, respectively, reaching 11 international cities and 18 domestic cities, with 89 flights departing per week averagely. There are 59 domestic routes to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, etc and 20 overseas direct flights to Seoul, Osaka, Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taipei and Kaohsiung.

Notes: There were once several daily nonstop flights between Changsha Huanghua International Airport and Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. However, due to the increased frequency of high-speed trains, the number of flights has been reduced and they may be subject to cancellation. We highly recommend considering the high-speed train option for a more reliable and stable travel experience.

Changsha to Zhangjiajie/Zhangjiajie to Changsha Bus

There are tens of buses running between Zhangjiajie and Changsha (normally, from 7am to 7pm). The duration is about 4 to 5.5 hours according to the actual traffic condition. The serving stations at Zhangjiajie are Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station and Wulingyuan Passenger Station, while there are four bus stations in Changsha, namely, Changsha West Bus Station, Changsha East Bus Station, Changzhutan Bus Station, and Changsha High Speed Railway Bus Station.

How to Travel Zhangjiajie and Changsha

Zhangjiajie is located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province in central China.
