How to Get to Mount Siguniang from Chengdu

Mount Siguniang is located in Xiaojin County of western Sichuan Province, about 205 kilometers from Chengdu - the capital of Sichuan. Chengdu is served as the most popular gateway city to destinations in western Sichuan, especially Mount Siguniang. How to get to Mount Siguniang from Chengdu? At present, there is no airport or train station in Siguniangshan Town. The best way to get from Chengdu to Siguniangshan is by private car (4-5 hours) or by coach / bus (5-6 hours).

Mount Siguniang is also one of the most important site on the north line of West Sichuan Tourisum Circuit. The north line half circle is from Chengdu to Dujiangyan (59km), pass Mount Siguniang (205km), reach Danba (321km), finally arrive at Xianduqiao (469km).

The nearest town to Mount Siguniang is Siguniangshan Town (former known as Rilong town, changed to Siguniagnshan town in 2013), about 17km from Mount Siguniang. Siguniangshan town is within hundreds meters to the entrance of Haizi Valley and less than 2km to Changping Valley Tourist Center. The town is about 7km from Shuangqiao Valley, but you can easily find a car to take you to Shuangqiao Valley.

2. From Chengdu to Mount Sigunaing, the road bends treacherously. As the precipitation begins to increase in Spring and Summer, the chance of mudslides and landslides will greatly increase. So tourists are suggested to pay attention to the weather forecast before the trip.
3. In winter, due to the high altitude, the average temperature in Mount Siguniang is below freezing. Condition is treacherous from Chengdu to Mount Siguniang, much of it caused by black ice, when a think often invisible layer freezes over road. For safety consideration, tourists are not suggested to visit Mount Siguniang in Winter.
4. Due to the rugged mountain path and bad road condition, the bus will bump along the road. Do remember to fasten your seat-belt! )

Chengdu to Mount Siguniang by Bus

For independent travelers, taking a bus to Mount Siguniang is also an option. There is no direct bus from Chengdu to Mount Siguniang, however you may take the bus at Chadianzi Bus Station (茶店子汽车站) in Chengdu that leaves for Xiaojin County and get off at Siguniangshan Town (四姑娘山镇).

Booking bus ticket online is the most convenient way, however foreigners may unable to access the site, so foreign tourists need to buy the ticket at the ticket hall in Chadianzi Bus Station.

There are high and low tourist season in Mount Siguniang. In most cases, there will be three bus from Chengdu to Mount Siguniang in high season (from April to November), and two bus in low season (from December to March). The whole journey on the bus takes about 5-6 hours, might be longer due to the bad weather.

How to Get from Siguniangshan Town to Mount Siguniang & Three Valleys

The best way to explore the beauty of Mount Siguniang is through visiting Siguniangshan National Park. Siguniangshan Nationa Park is consist of Mount Siguniang itself and three valleys, Shangqiao Valley (双桥沟), Changping Valley (长坪沟) and Haizi Valley (海子沟) from west to east. The entrance of Changping and Haizi Valley is located in Siguniangshan town, you can reach there by foot. Shuangqiao Valley is about 7km from Siguniangshan town, but you can easily find public transport to get there in Siguniangshan town.

There is no ticket office in Mount Siguniang town, you need to walk about 1 km to the east to Changping Village to buy the ticket.

There are sightseeing buses to take you from the entrance to Lama Temple. Then you can explore Changping Valley by walking or riding horses.

Siguniangshan Town to Haizi Valley

The entrance to Haizi Valley is only hundreds meters walking distance from Mount Siguniang town. You can find the ticket office opposite the entrance.

There is no boardwalks in Haizi Valley, you can walk to explore the valley, there is also horse riding service there.

Siguniangshan Town to Shuangqiao Valley

Shuangqiao Valley is about 7km from Mount Siguniang town, requiring visitors to take public transport to get there. Drivers will usually do this for about 50 yuan, which includes the return trip to Siguniangshan town from the valley gate at a negotiated time or upon calling the driver to ask for pick-up. You can easily find the ticket office opposite the parking lot.

Shuangqiao Valley is the longest valley in Siguniangshan Scenic Area, with the total length of 34.8km. There are sightseeing buses transferring tourists between each attractions in Shangqiao Valley.
