(One-way)Ticket: 100RMB (March ~ November), 80RMB (December ~ February)

The West Sea Cable Car (西海大峡谷地轨缆车), located in the southern valley of West Sea/Xihai Grand Canyon, is the convenient transport from bottom of the valley to Bright Summit. The whole monorail ascends with a 34% gradient, rising about 497m from Paiyunxi Station to the up Tianhai Station. The car offers fully enclosed transparent carriages with 3 levels, which are able to hold 60 passengers one way. No seats are provided, and all passengers will stand. Noe that coming down and up is very quick, but you may meet long lines waiting to get on the cars.

Normally, hiking from Paiyun Pavilion down to the valley floor (via 1st and 2nd Ring) takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Extra 4 hours is needed to hike uphill to Baiyun Hotel, a very strenuous route. Therefore, most tourists take the tram-cable car up the mountain, just within 8 minutes, then head towards Bright Summit, Turtle Peak, Flying-over Rock and other scenic wonders around. Still, some people take the monorail down to the bottom to save time and protect knees, because the downhill hiking has lots of steep stairs and narrow paths.

Clarification of listed periods
I would like to clarify the listed periods again. Is the listed period the period of maintenance, or periods when they operate?
eg. Yungu Cableway (云谷索道): December 1 - December 16, 2019 & January 7 - January 13, 2020. Is the Yungu Cableway open on 10th Dec? or close on 10th Dec? (assuming weather is fine)
2019-12-03 11:04
Hi Desmond,

The times listed in the article is the cable car closing times for maintenance. For example, the Yugu Cable Car will not be open during December 1 to 16 and January 7 to 13. That means, you can NOT take the Yugu Cable Car during the two periods. But it will operate as usual if weather is good.
Wish it helps and enjoy your Huangshan Tour!

Best Regards,
I am travelling to Huangshan during 25th to 29th December, Which period will the cable car will close for operation?

Hello,
are periods listed in the notice above for example from the Yuping Cableway (玉屏索道): November 18 - November 30, 2019 the maintenance periods? So it is working during the 6. - 8. of December?
Beste regards Tobias
2019-11-26 12:48
Hi Tobias,
Normally, the Yuping Cable Car will run except the maintenance periods, so will other cable cars. But if extreme weather comes, the cableways will also be closed to ensure safety.
Highly suggested to tour Huangshan Mountain as early as possible, because in the winter season (December 1-March 31 2020), the West Grand Canyon and the Lotus Peak will be closed both.
Wish you enjoy your Huangshan Mountain hiking trip!
Best Regards,
