Train Stations for Shanghai to Huangshan Travel
When traveling by high-speed rail from Shanghai to Huangshan, trains typically depart from Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Railway Station, or Shanghai South Station, with Songjiang Station being less convenient for travelers due to its location. Trains arrive at either Huangshan North Station, which offers more frequent services, or the newer Huangshan West Station, which currently has fewer daily trains.

The station is served by metro line 2, line 10 and line 17, which can easily take you to the city center and Zhujiajiao Water Town.

Shanghai Railway Station (Pinyin: Shanghai Zhan 上海站)

Shanghai Railway Station functions as the city's historic central station, offering excellent connectivity to the urban center. It's about 7 km to the Bund (about 20 minutes’ drive); about 4 km to Shanghai Museum (about 15 minutes’ drive); about 7 km to Yuyuan Garden (about 30 minutes’ drive). The station runs both normal trains and high speed trains to many destinations. You can take bullet trains to cities like Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, etc., and normal trains to Lhasa (Tibet), Xian, Xining, Hohhot, Chengdu, etc.

The Station runs both normal trains and high speed trains to many destinations, mainly the southern ones such as Hangzhou, Ningbo, Xiamen, etc. It's served by metro line 1, line 3 and line 15, offering convenient access to the nearby attractions.

Huangshan North Railway Station is the main high-speed rail hub for the region, located near the downtown area. Most travelers choose this station because of its location and frequent train services. Huangshan West Railway Station is a newer station located in the western part of Huangshan city. It has fewer train services compared to the North station. The station is about 45 kilometers from Yellow Mountain scenic area, roughly a 45-minute drive by bus or taxi. This station is convenient for travelers who prefer a more relaxed departure experience, though transportation options to and from the station are somewhat more limited than at Huangshan North. There are also shuttle bus direct to various attractions.
Other Transfer Options from Shanghai to Huangshan
You can also travel between Shanghai and Huangshan by coach bus, taxi, or private car. The entire journey covers about 400 kilometers and takes roughly 5 hours by road. While Huangshan does have its own airport (Huangshan Tunxi International Airport), there are currently no direct flights between Shanghai and Huangshan due to the convenience and efficiency of the high-speed rail connection. For those who enjoy road trips or prefer more flexibility in their schedule, driving offers scenic views along the way, though the high-speed train remains the most convenient option for this route.
