Today, you are going to visit two remarkable ancient villages, best examples of ancient Huizhou-style architecture, which are listed in UESCO World Heritage Sites – Hongcun and Xidi. Quite different from other traditional ancient villages in China, the layout, landscape, architectural form, decoration, and construction techniques all retain the original features Hongcun and Xidi are much more exquisite and grandiose, because they were built by successful officials or merchants returning home from official appointments and business.
Hongcun, originated during Song Dynasty (960-1276), is praised as the most beautiful village in China. It is famous as the ancient village in the Chinese painting. The most beautiful sites are the Moon Lake, the crescent-like pond surrounded by several grand dwellings, and Southern Lake Academy, a private ancient school served for the village. One interesting fact is that the whole village is arranged in the shape of an ox. The famous Oscar-winner film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were filmed in Hongcun.
Xidi Village is only about 10km from Hongcun. Its well-spaced houses with white walls, elegant decorations and black tiles are surrounded by mountains, which makes Xidi an ideal place for paint from life. Xidi is a magnificent villager of imperial officers. It contributed about 130 government officials, some of whom were dignitaries in the imperial courts, during Ming and Qing Dynasties. Currently, there are still 124 well-preserved ancient dwelling with unique style in the village.
After the sightseeing, it’s time for departure. Your tour guide and driver will escort you to catch your flight/train to next destination. Our service ends.

Took us a couple of days to get back to normal here
Both tours were amazing
We all agreed that Zhangjiajie is one of the most amazing places we have ever been
Beautiful scenery, unbelievable landscapes and basically incredible sights and attractions
Disappointed we missed the Fairy Fox show, but that was just timing
Xian was equally as interesting and to spend our Christmas Day with the Terracotta Warriors was a Christmas to remember
Both guides were brilliant and very knowledgeable
Thanks again for arranging this for us and I have already been passing China Discovery details on to others and will continue to do so
It was a great trip. Candy was a wonderful guide. The van was extremely comfortable and made the one day trip very easy for my family. We would definitely use her again in the future and recommend her to others.
Thank you once again for helping set up a memorable trip.
I was very happy with my tour and tour guide - Susan and the driver did a wonderful job of showing me the city. I was very happy with the whole experience and would book again with you if I make it back to Chongqing.
We just arrived in Manila. Thank you again for sending us a gift. We really appreciate it. Also, thank you for organizing our wonderful trip. This trip is one of our unforgettable and great trips. Will surely recommend you and will surely book another trip with you. Martin and Mary is very insightful and detailed in every area where we head to. They really know what to share with us. Hotels and Foods are all fit with us. Our tummies and body were happy. haha! Also the roadtrip was smooth. But the van in Chengdu gives me a little headache due to the smell of smoke inside the car quite strong. But everything is OK. Thank You again.
Happy new year to you! We had a great time in China. Everything was very well organised and the tour went very smoothly. The guides Tom in Kunming, Carey (?) in Dali and Jack in Lijiang were excellent. Very knowledgeable and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Aten in Shangri La was ok but not to the standard of the other three. The only negative would be that the heating in the hotels were slightly inadequate so we were cold! Otherwise we had a great trip and would definitely recommend your company to others.
Thanks and regards.

On Huangshan Mountain
In this tour, you will stay one night on the mountain, which is very worth doing as you will have more time to enjoy as much as landscape of Huangshan especially the amazing sunset and sunrise. There are only 6 hotels on the mountain. Our guests usually accommodate at Xihai Hotel and Beihai Hotel as they have better rooms, facilities and foods. The South Building of Xihai Hotel is the only 5-star hotel on the mountain. Please kindly know the hotels on the mountain are not as good as the 4-star and 5-star hotels in the big cities while the prices are sometimes higher because there is no vehicle road can be built to the top area of the mountain, which made these hotels cost much longer time and much more money during their the constructions. Besides, the supply of the hotels are basically rely on porters who usually walk for many hours to carry the foods, drinks, vegetables, eggs, beddings from the foot of the mountain.
In Huangshan City
You will stay two nights in the downtown of Huangshan city in this tour. There are multiple choices of hotels from economy class to luxury class. We only arrange hotels with good words of mouth, better facilities and service, such as Crowne Plaza Huangshan (5 stars), Huangshan International Hotel (5 stars), Huashan Huiyan Hotel (4 stars).
Chinese dishes of local Hui-style Cuisine cooked by seasonal vegetables, pork, chicken, beef, fish, etc. are mainly served in this trip. Western breakfasts and meals are only provided in some 5 stars or 4 stars hotels.
Huangshan mountain area features a humid sub-tropical monsoon climate. Summers and Winters are longer than Springs and Autumns. There are plenty of rainfalls, usually more than 180 rainy days through the whole year. It snows often in the Winter days, usually around 50 days per year. Clouds and fogs occur easily, and go fast sometimes. The average temperature in Summer is around 20°C. In winter days, it will drop to below 10°C. Basically speaking, Huangshan can be visited all year around. But Lotus Peak, Celestial Capital Peak and West Sea Grand Canyon are not open during Winter days (December to March). The best time to visit is from March to October. If you want to escape from crazy crowds, you can avoid travelling to Huangshan during Chinese holidays and School summer holidays (July~August).
There are a lot of walkings that you can't avoid on the mountain, so it is very important to travel light to save energy. Before going up to the mountain, you can store your luggage in a hotel located at the bottom of the mountain. Recommended packing list: comfortable and breathable clothes, hiking shoes, alpenstock, sunblock, raincoat, small bag.
