Luoyang Railway Stations - Luoyang Longmen Railway Station and Luoyang Railway Station

There are five railway stations serving Luoyang city, namely Luoyang Railway Station (洛阳站), Luoyang Longmen Railway Station (洛阳龙门站), Guanlin Railway Station (关林站), Yanshi Railway Station (偃师站) and Xin’anxian Railway Station (新安县站). Among them, Luoyang Longmen Railway Station and Luoyang Railway Station are most chosen for passengers travelling to Luoyang. Luoyang Longmen Railway Station runs high speed trains (including D-trains and G-trains) and Luoyang Railway Station runs normal trains (including K-trains, T-trains, Z-trains, etc.)

Distance: about 11 km (20 minutes’ drive) from Luoyang downtown (Wangcheng Park), 5 km (15 minutes’ drive) from Longmen Grottoes, 21 km (35 minutes’ drive) from Luoyang Beijiao Airport.

Connected Cities (high speed train): Beijing (3.5-4.5h), Xi’an (1.5h), Wuhan (3h), Zhengzhou (40 min), Kaifeng (1h), Tianjin (4.5h), Chengdu (5.5h), Changsha (4.5-5.5h), etc.

Luggage Storage: Luoyang Longmen Railway Station provides luggage storage and charges about CNY 5 ~ 30 according to the size of your luggage and how many hours to keep the luggage. If you are to visit Longmen Grottoes, you can also leave your luggage at Longmen Grottoes Tourist Center.

To Luoyang Downtown: Frequent buses can take you to Luoyang downtown conveniently and it usually takes 75 minutes. Attractions such as Tianzi Jialiu Museum and Luoyang Old City are in downtown area.

To Longmen Grottoes: Longmen Grottoes is only 5 km away. Independent travellers can take a taxi there. Direct buses are also available but it will take about 50 minutes.

To Shaolin Temple: Shaolin Temple is in Dengfeng, about 55 km (1.5 hours’ drive) from Luoyang Longmen Railway Station. There is no direct bus. You can take a bus/taxi to Luoyang Coach Station in Luoyang downtown, which operates daily coaches (about 2.5 hours) Shaolin Temple. All the coaches depart in the morning so you need to get there early.

Distance: in downtown area, about 20 km (35 minutes’ drive) from Longmen Grottoes, 9.5 km (30 minutes’ drive) from Luoyang Beijiao Airport.

Connected Cities: With the operation of high speed trains at Luoyang Longmen Railway Station, Luoyang Railway Station is now usually chosen for short-distance routes in Henan Province to cities like Zhengzhou (1.5-2.5h), Kaifeng (2-3h), Sanmenxia (1.5-2h), etc.

Luggage Storage: Luoyang Railway Station provides luggage storage and charges CNY 5/piece within 3 hours and CNY 10/piece from 3 to 24 hours.

To Luoyang Downtown: Luoyang Railway Station is in downtown area, you can get to Tianzi Jialiu Museum easily as it is only 2 km away. Luoyang Old City where you can buy some souvenirs and try local food is only 5 km away.

To Longmen Grottoes: You can take a direct bus to Longmen Grottoes and the duration is about 1.5 hours. If you want to save some time, taxis are easy to find around Luoyang Railway Station.

To Shaolin Temple: Shaolin Temple is about 55 km (1.5 hours’ drive) away. Luoyang Coach Station, just across Luoyang Railway Station, operates daily coaches (about 2.5h) to Shaolin Temple.

Usually, it takes 2 ~ 3 days to have a Luoyang tour. The highlights of Luoyang include Longmen Grottoes which is known as the finest examples of Chinese Buddhist art, 1900-year-old White Horse Temple (also China's first Buddhist temple), 2000-year-old burial site - Tianzi Jialiu Museum and beautiful Luoyang Museum with a lot of history to tell. Of course, you can't miss a Kung Fu exploration in Shaolin Temple (in Dengfeng city) if you visit Luoyang. It is only 55 km (about 1.5 hours' drive) away from Luoyang City.
