Family Date with Kung Fu Panda and Frozen

-- 9 Days China Panda Tour with Kids

My family had a 9-days holiday to Chengdu and Xian, China in December 2017 and we had a fantastic time with tours organized by China Discovery (Chengdu). I want to commend on Wing’s professionalism for she had been very responsive and attended to my endless questions very promptly. I first contacted China Discovery in late October, and Wing Zeng was my travel consultant. She worked back to forth with me over twenty emails until I was happy with all the schedules, travel and hotels arrangement. I requested English speaking, funny and story-telling tour guides, and China Discovery has fulfilled my requirement. Both our tour guides – Nancy in Chengdu and Waldner in Xian can speak excellent English and they are very knowledgeable. They made the tours a lot more interesting by telling us lots of stories and history of China and the sightseeing places. If my family ever visits China in the future, we would definitely book through China Discovery again and would recommend others too!

Better to See Once than Hear A Hundred Times

PART Ⅰ: Embrace Kung Fu Panda with Beautiful Winter Nature

The day at Dujiangyan Panda Base was a highlight. First time paying to do cleaning work but it was well worth it. Never seen my children doing chores with such enthusiasm and so happily! It was interesting to see the quantity of bamboo a panda could munch on and, pooping it could do in a day (but don't worry, they weren't smelly at all!). We were able to hear stories and get up close to three pandas around our panda volunteering work area and pandas there were surprisingly very active compare to those we saw in other countries! China Discovery had arranged a photo cuddle session with a young panda for my boys and they said it was their most precious 20 seconds of their life! It was indeed a very special day and a lifetime experience!

The tour had also brought us to Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mountain, Leshan Giant Buddha, Mount Emei and Chengdu Panda Base in Chengdu. Mount Emei was another most worth visit place in our trip. Most people came for the temples but we came for the scenery. The place was covered with snow on the day we went and it was picturesque! Some steps were icy and slippery so we had to walk cautiously but as it was a private tour, we could enjoy at our own pace and it was a very pleasant day!

PART Ⅱ: Marvel at Historical Army Wonder and Breathtaking Peak

For the Xian leg of the trip, we visited Terracotta Warriors, Mount Huashan, Bell Tower, Ancient City Wall and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, etc.. We were spellbound by Emperor Qin's Terracotta army, but the most enjoyable day among all sightseeing places in Xian was the excursion to Mount Huashan. The place was just breathtaking with steep cliffs and endless up and down winding paths to different peaks. The cable car journey was an amazing experience too. We were glad to have a tour guide coming along, so we could hike around and see the best of the mountain at ease.

Thank You is Far from Enough

Apart from touring, my family would also like to express our gratitude to China Discovery for its prompt assistance to locate my son's lost cellphone. After going though custom at Chengdu airport enroute to Xian, my son realised he might have dropped his phone in the vehicle (and it was our last journey on that vehicle!!). I frantically called my travel consultant Wing and told her the situation. I made another call to Wing half an hour later, and to our relief, she had already located the phone and would arrange it to be mailed to our hotel in Xian. We were happy to see the parcel arrived safely 2 days later. The service of China Discovery especially on Wing's willingness to attend to customers' problems when in need impressed us and had exceeded our expectation!

Overall, we were very happy with the tour arrangement and we had a lovely trip. The tours ran smoothly and China Discovery delivered everything detailed in the itinerary. With door-to-door vehicle pick up and a local tour guide there with us - from the moment the guide picked us at airport to sending us off, to hotels check in, getting tickets for all sightseeing places and helped us to order meals for our lunches, etc., we were being looked after and felt safe touring around in a foreign country.
