Yuanyang Seasons to Go

Yuanyang enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with wet summers, dry winters and an annual average temperature of around 14.8℃. Spring is a planting season from March to May, it’s the time when the cattle is working in the rice fields and the local Hani people is transplanting rice seedlings. Summer is the rainy season in Yuanyang from June to August, the sea of clouds over the rice paddies change a lot, making it a beautiful Chinese painting. Although it is in the winter, the hills here are full of splendid large goldenrod, like the spring has come.Trekking along Longshuba Rice Terrace to see red duckweed and the colorful Rice Terraces will be a must-do in Winter when rice hasn’t planted into field yet. If the time is right, you can join the several hundred meters banquet at the street of Hani Nationality, which is the biggest festival there, like Spring Festival, and enjoy the local Hani Culture.

Yuanyang Autumn - September to November

Autumn, from September to November, with the pleasant temperature and splendid rice terraces, this season attracts more travelers. On average, it is maximum 21°C in autumn in Yuanyang and at least around 9.4°C. In autumn rainfall decrease a lot with a total of 122 mm.

Weather is pleasant in autumn, you can wear long sleeves and trousers and thin coats during daytime, But do remember to bring some warm coat to handle the suddenly shut-down temperature. Also don;t forget to rain gear in case of rain.

Yuanyang Spring - March to May

Yuanyang has a early spring from March to May with a nice and comfortable weather. Average monthly temperature stars to rise from 8.8°C to 21.6°C. Total rainfall in spring is about 63mm.

Spring is the season of sowing and transplanting the seedlings in Yuanyang Hani Rice Terraces. Yuanyang Summer - June to August

Summer is the hottest and rainy season in Yuanyang, average temperature during daytime is about 30°C and 22°C during nighttime. Most rain falls in July and August, with 163mm and 128mm separately.

During summer, the paddies are luxuriantly green with growing rice stalks, full of vigor. Take a day to wander around the boundless sea of paddies - Yuanyang Rice Terraces in Summer, you can leave all your worry behind.
