Turpan Weather & Seasons

Turpan has a warm temperate continental arid desert climate as a result of locating in Turpan basin and being surrounded by high mountains. Briefly Turpan features in long sunlight, high temperature, large temperature difference between day and night, less rainfall and strong wind, which makes Turpan famous as "place of fire" and "depot of wind". Annual average tempeture is 14℃. Turpan is one of driest places in China with annual precipitation of only 13mm but evaporation of 3000mm.

Junly and August are the best months for Turpan tours when the fruit crops are ripe. You also have chance to enjoy the Grape Festival in August.

Turpan Seasons to Go

Turpan has four distinct four seasons. Spring is short(about two months), and gets warm quickly. Summer is long and hot(about 5 months) when Turpan may reach its highest temperature - nearly 50℃. Autumn is much shorter(less two months). It gets cold fast in a short term. Winter is normal(about three months) with less wind and snow, and more sunny and warm days.
