Suzhou, located in the eastern coast of China in Jiangsu Province, enjoys the subtropical monsoon climate. It has the typical season characters with humid and hot summer and cloudy wither. The average temperature is about 15 - 17 °C. July and August are the hottest months with the average temperature of about 38.6 °C and January is the coldest month with an average temperature of about 3 - 8 °C and the extremely low temperature of about – 5 °C. Suzhou has an average annual precipitation of about 1076.2 mm and June to July is the plum rain season of Suzhou.

Suzhou Seasons to Go

Spring
Spring, with an average temperature of about 15 °C during day time and about 10 °C during night, from March to May, is a season of recovery from the cold days. Though there are sharp and frequent intervals of temperature changes, spring is the best time to travel Suzhou. Since temperature changes a lot from day to night, it is suggested to prepare enough thick and light clothes before you Suzhou tour.

Summer is the hottest season with a lot of rainy days in June. The highest temperature is in July and August, when it can reach 38 °C. Wearing sunglasses and sun screen and drinking lots of water is recommended. Trees become greener and make the rivers and lakes more romantic with their verdant reflections. Also, numerous flowers, especially the lotus blossoms are super fabulous for numerous visitors to admire their multiple poses and colors.

Wear sweater + down jacket + warm trousers + woolen scarves + gloves to keep warm. Suzhou in winter is of more antique flavor, and it is a good season to savor its quiet.
