Chengdu Metro

So far (March, 2020), there are 8 metro lines operating - Metro Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 5, Line 7, Line 10, Line 蓉2. Line 18, line 6, line 17, line 8, Line 9 are about to open in the second half year of 2020. At the same time, there are more lines are planned to be built in the future – Line 13, Line 17, Line 19, Line 27, and Line 30.

Chengdu Metro Projects Under Construction

There are about 5 metro lines planning to be put into use in 2020 and more lines are scheduled to be built in the future. The followings are planned Metro Lines in Chengdu, including Chengdu Metro line 18, line 6, line 17, line 8, Line 9. The new lines in the future will help a lot with the connection between the downtown area and the outskirts area of Chengdu.

Useful Tips for Taking Metro in Chengdu

• ① Ticketing System: The Chengdu Metro uses a ticketing system based on distance and time Basic price of RMB 2 is charged for the first four kilometers, and from 4 km to 12 km, for every four kilometers an additional RMB 1 is charged; from 12 km to 24 km, for every six kilometers an additional RMB 1 is charged;from 24 km to 40 km, for every eight kilometers an additional RMB 1 is charged; from 40 km to 50 km, for every ten kilometers an additional RMB 1 is charged; when exceeding 50 km, for every twenty kilometers an additional RMB 1 is charged.
• ② Using Cash to Purchase Tickets: Use cash to purchase tickets at the station's ticket vending machines or at the Customer Service Center's semi-automatic vending machines. The ticket vending machines only accept RMB 1 coin or RMB 5, 10 or 20 bills.
• ③ Using Pre-Paid Cards to Purchase Tickets: Use Tianfu Tong card or e-wallet of Finance IC card to purchase tickets from ticket vending machines.
• ④ Using Mobile Payment Apps to Purchase Tickets: Use WeChat wallet or Alipay to purchase tickets at Customer Service Center.
