How to Get to and around Baotou 2024

With the completion of the Hohhot-Zhangjiakou high-speed rail line, the Beijing-Baotou high-speed railway line is fully open to traffic. Therefore, it’s convenient to get to Baotou from Beijing (3.5-4 hours), Zhangjiakou (2.5-3 hours) in Hebei province and Datong (3.5-4 hours) and Pingyao (5.5-6 hours) in Shanxi province by high-speed trains. There are frequently operated high speed / bullet trains to Baotou from Hohhot (1-1.5 hours), Ulanqab (2.5-3 hours), etc. in Inner Mongolia. Baotou Train Station

There are several railway stations in Baotou City. The two most commonly used are Baotou Railway Station and Baotou East Railway Station.

Baotou Railway Station (包头站)

Address: Alatanhan Street, Kundulun District, Baotou (包头市昆都仑区阿拉坦汗大街)

Distance to the City Center: about 7 km to Baotou city center, which takes 20 minutes by car.

Baotou Railway Station is an important passenger and cargo distribution center in Baotou. It is the junction of Beijing-Baotou Railway, Baotou-Lanzhou Railway, Jining-Baotou Railway, Baotou-Xining Railway, Baotou-Dongsheng Railway and Baotou-Baiyenebo Railway, etc. Baotou Station is about 62 km from Wudangzhao, 50 km from Kubuqi Desert, 7 km from Sahantala Grassland Resort, 10 km from Northern Weaponry City.

Baotou East Railway Station (包头东站)

Address: No. 32, Nanmenwai Street, Donghe District, Baotou (包头市东河区南门外大街32号)

Distance to the City Center: about 23 km to Baotou City Center, which takes 40-50 minutes by car.

The main railway lines through Baotou East Railway Station are Beijing-Baotou Rail Line and Baotou-Lanzhou Line. Baotou East Station is about 50 km from Wudangzhao, 48 km from Kubuqi Desert, 13 km from Sahantala Grassland Resort and 20 km away from Northern Weaponry City.

The distance between Hohhot and Baotou is only 170 km, which takes 2.5-3 hours by car. Since these two cities are both important tourist cities in the central area of Inner Mongolia, most tourists would visit them together. By Bullet Trains: For independent travelers, taking a train is the most convenient and quickest way to get to Baotou from Hohhot for 1-1.5 hours. There are over 20 G/D trains operating between Hohhot (Hohhot East Railway Station / Hohhot Railway Station) and Baotou (Baotou East Railway Station / Baotou Railway Station) from 06:20~21:30. Besides, there are also nearly 35 normal trains running from day to night and the whole journey takes 1.5-2.5 hours.

By Coach: There are several buses leaving from Hohhot Bus Station to Kundulun District, Baotou East and Bayan Obo in Baotou from 07:00 ~ 17:30.

Baotou to Wudangzhao
