Flights to Tongren: Though there are almost none international flights to Tongren, the airport is still quite effective serving passengers from Beijing (2.5h), Shanghai (2.5h), Guiyang (1h), Guilin (1h), Kunming (2h), Hangzhou (2.5h), Guangzhou (1.5h), Shenzhen (1.5h), Xiamen (2h),etc.

Bullet Trains to Tongren: Serving as the only bullet train station in Tongren, it hosts bullet trains bounding from Guiyang (2h), Chengdu (5h), Chongqing (4h), Guangzhou (6h), Kaili (1h), Changsha (3.5h)

-Location: Yixin Village, Dalong Town, Yuping Dong Autonomous County, Tongren, Guizhou Province 贵州省铜仁市玉屏侗族自治县大龙镇一心村

-Distance: It's about 117km to Fanjingshan Scenic Area (2h by car) and 63km to the city center (1h by car).

Normal Trains to Tongren: A lot of the major cities located in the south such as Xiamen (27h), Ningbo (22h) , operate normal trains to Tongren.

Though there are always taxi waiting outside the airport and train stations, the taxi driver may not be willing to drive you there or they would charge you higher price (400RMB at least) since the long distance to Fanjingshan (about 2 hours by car), so taking a taxi to Fanjingshan is not that recommendable. However, there are still some buses keeping running between stations and Fanjingshan and ticket price is also reasonable. However, since the buses are still limited, departing only 1 or 2 times a day, you can also take the long distance bus at Tongren to Jiangkou County where is Fanjingshan located, and then take a bus from Jiangkou bus station to Fanjingshan (half hour by car).

Many travelers choose to visit Fanjingshan after Chengdu tours. You need to transfer at Tongren. There is no direct flights from Chengdu to Tongren, but only direct trains. There is only one direct flight (Only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) that you can take from Xian to Tongren (Xianyang International Airport - Tongren Fenghuang Airport). The time needed for a single way is about 2 hrs 10 mins.

Zhangjiajie is to the Northeast of Fanjingshan, 331km away from it (5h by car). There is no direct bus/train to Fanjingshan/Jiangkou. To plan your tour and also visit the neighboring attractions, you are recommended to stop over at Fenghuang and then transfer at Tongren city to Fanjingshan scenic area.

Zhangjiajie to Fangjiangshan via Tongren

The train station and bus station in Zhangjiajie are quite close. There is one overnight train and multiple buses bounding for Tongren. Since the train departs after the midnight, taking a bus or trasfferring at Tongren/Fenghuang might be safer and more convenient there.

Without other optional transferring vehicles, you can only take an one-hour bus there. The serving time from 9am to 4pm and the frequency is changeable, according to the number of passengers.

Although the distance between Fanjingshan to Guilin (520km, 7h by car) is relatively farther than other cities’, there are a few flights heading Tongren from Guilin. For both of them are stunning scenic sites in the southern China, you are recommended to plan your Fanjingshan Tour with Guilin.

For there is no train/bus from Guilin to Tongren/Fanjingshan, the only way reaching Fanjingshan is to take a flight in Guilin via Tongren. After your arrival at Tongren at night, you can always find a hotel and rest there and be ready to get to Fanjingshan on the next day.

As the capital city of Guizhou, Guiyang is about 296km to the southwest of Fanjingshan (about 4h by car). Serving as an important transportation junction hub in the southwest of China, Guiyang is connected with almost all the first-tier cites and capital cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc, with some of the international/regional cities in the east Asia, such as Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Osaka...It’s a gateway cities for tourists coming here to explore the various minority cultures at villages in Kaili and stunning natural scenery at Fanjingshan.

There are buses running from Guiyang to Jiangkou county, and the main Fanjingshan scenic area is located there. Besides transferring at Jiangkou county, you can also get to Fanjingshan area via Tongren.

Located between Fangjingshan and Guiyang, Kaili is to the southwest of Fanjingshan, about 230km from it (3.5h by car). There is no direct bus/train to Fanjingshan and Jiangkou county. However, you can always stop over at Tongren. The followings are recommended transferring routes from Guiyang to Tongren.

There is one bullet train G2992 running from Kaili to Tongren with the duration about 1 hour, and you can also get to Tongren by bus. The bus from Kaili departs twice a day by 3pm, taking about 4 hours to get Tongren.

Fanjingshan Scenic Bus

From Heihe River Entrance to Yuao Cableway Station, the Heihe scenic road is about 9.5km (3h on foot) with scenic bus travelling from one to another. Travellers entering from the other Gate (Huguosi Gate), the road between Huguosi Gate to Manxuling Area is about 6.5 km with scenic buses. Other vehicles are not allowed driving on both of the scenic roads.

Fanjingshan Cableway

The cableway is operated from Yuao cableway station in Jiangkou county, about 3,400 meters in total (5h on foot). After reaching the top station, you only need walk about 2,000 steps to the top scenic area including mushroom stone and Red Cloud Golden Summit. Since the tourists are not allowed to hike down after 4pm, the cableway will be the only travelling route after it.
