How to Get to Longsheng Longji Rice Terraces from Guilin

Longji Rice Terraces is one of the hottest scenic areas of Guilin, with charming ethnic culture and spectacular curvaceous terraced landscape starting from the mountain foot up to the top. Longji Area cannot be reached by train and flight, thus you need to arrive at Guilin first and then travel from Guilin to get there.

Longji Rice Terraces is consisted of three main Terraced Fields, including the most popular Ping'an rice terraces, the largest Jinkeng Rice Terraces and the most ancient Longji Ancient Zhuang Rice Terraces. All the tourist buses, coaches and private cars can only stop at the parking lot of each terraced field, including Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Parking Lot, Ping'an Parking Lot and Jinkeng Dazhai Parking Lot. The entrance of Longji area, where you can buy your tickets, is about 22km’ driving away (about half an hour) from Longsheng County and 76km’ driving (about 1.5-2 hours) away from the downtown Guilin. From the entrance, it needs about 9km' driving to Longji Ancient Zhuang Rice Terraces, 17km' driving to the Ping’an Rice Terraces and about 23km' driving to the Jinkeng Rice Terraces.

At present, only Jinkeng Dazhai Parking Lot has direct coaches traveling between Longji and Guilin. To get to the other two rice terrace areas, you should make a transfer at Longsheng County.

Guilin to Ping'an Rice Terraces

Ping'an is the most popular tourist area of Longji Rice Terraces. It is located about 17km away from the entrance of Longji Scenic Area. It takes about 2 hours to drive from Guilin to Ping'an directly by taking private car. At present, there is no direct coach from Guilin to Ping'an, but you can make a transfer at Longsheng County to get there. Traveling from Guilin to Longsheng County takes about 1-1.5 hours, and getting from Longsheng County to the Ping'an Parking Lot takes about 1 hour.

Guilin to Jinkeng Rice Terraces (Dazhai Village)

Jinkeng Rice Terraces enjoys the largest part of Longji Terraced Fields. It is the farthest area from the entrance of Longji Rice Terraces (about 23km). Driving from Guilin to Jinkeng directly takes about 2-2.5 hours. You can take direct coaches to get there or make a transfer at the nearby Longsheng County. It may take you about 2-2.5 hours to get to Dazhai from Guilin directly, and if you choose to make a transfer at Longsheng County, it may need 2.5-4 hours.

Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is located about 9km away from the entrance of Longji Area. It is the nearest rice terraces area from the entrance. Taking private car from Guilin to Longji Village takes about 2 hours. Currently, there is no other ways that can travel from Guilin to Longji Village directly, but you can make a transfer via Longsheng County. If you take the coach via Longsheng, it takes about 1-1.5 hours to get from Guilin to Longsheng County and about 40 minutes get from Longsheng County to the Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Parking Lot.

Warm Tips about Longji Transportation

1. You may need to change a minibus to get into the rice terraces area at the entrance of Longji Area during some special period of time.
During peak season like the National Holiday (10.1-10.7), there may be traffic control in Longji Terraced Fields. Once there is such control, all the buses and coaches cannot get into the parking lot of each rice terraces area but should stop at the entrance of the whole Longji Terraced Field.

2. You are not suggested to arrange your Longji trip on your departure day.
Inside the Longji Area, there is a section of driving road that all the buses from/to Jinkeng and Ping'an should pass through, thus sometimes, especially during the holidays like the National Holiday (10.1-10.7) and the Holiday of Labors Day (days around May 1st), there may be a traffic jam. If you arrange your Longji trip on your departure day, you may miss your flight or train.
