Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, located 20 kilometers away to the northeast of downtown area and takes about 50 min by car, is one of the eight regional hub airports in China. It’s the fifth Chinese airport which implements 72-hour visa-free transit policy. The airport has three terminals. It offers convenient transportation system for you to transfer to any area in Chongqing downtown. You can choose taxi, transit rail, shuttle bus or private transfers arranged by travel agencies.

Get from Jiangbei Airport to City Center: by Metro, Shuttle Bus, Taxi and Private Car

By Taxi

Taking a taxi from the airport is the most convenient way to head directly to the destinations for those independent travelers. Once arriving at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport, you can follow the instructions and get a taxi easily.

The whole distance between the airport and attractions in downtown area is about 24~33km. The basic taxi fares in Chongqing are CNY 10 for the first 3 kilometers, CNY 2 per kilometer after 3km. Check the following frequent used destinations with detailed distances and prices for reference.

By Transit Rail

For independent travelers, after arrive at Jiangbei International Airport, if you have enough time, you can also take Chongqing transit rail head to Chongqing downtown area, it would take more than 1 hour. Taking the transit rail is the cheapest way and can spare you from the traffic jam, however time consumed almost doubled comparing with taking a taxi.

There are two transit rail lines connected to Jiangbei International Airport, Line 3 and Line 10.

Transit rail line 3 runs from 7:30 to 20:30, passes through Lianglukou (两路口站), Guanyinqiao (观音桥), Niujiaotuo (牛角沱站), Chongqing North Railway Station (South Square) etc. Transit rail line 10 runs from 6:30 to 22:30, passes through Longtousi Park (龙头寺公园), Hongtudi (红土地站), Chongqing North Railway Station (North Square), Chongqing North Railway Station (South Square). Both Lines are convenient for transferring to other rail lines. However, if you choose transit rail as your travel way, apart from time spending on the metro, you also need to walk hundreds or a thousand meters to get to your destinations.

If you arrive at Terminal 3, walk about 250 meters and you will reach Jiangbei Airport Terminal 3 railway station, entering from Gate 4, take Line 10 to Hongtudi station and change transit rail Line 6, get off at Xiaoshizi Station, then you need to walk about 5 to 10 minutes to arrive at Jiefangbei.

If you exit from Terminal 2, you should board at Jiangbei Airport Terminal 2 railway station, entering from Gate four, take Line 3 to Niujiaotuo station and change to Line 2, after four stations you will arrive at Linjiangmen Station, exit from Gate 3, then walk about 109 meters, you will arrive at Jiefangbei Square.

By Shuttle Bus

There are 6 lines with numerous shuttle buses running between Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and downtown area of Chongqing from the early morning to last flight.

The terminal of K01 is Jiefangbei, if you want to go to city center, K01 is your best choice. If you need to transfer to Chongqing North Railway Station, you can take K02.

Check the following routes, stops, frequency of each line and get the right shuttle bus for transfer.

(Note: K05, K06 and K07 won’t stop at Terminal 2, you can take free airport shuttle bus to Terminal 3 to take the bus.)

Get from Jiangbei Airport to Chaotianmen Dock

Chongqing is one of the most important starting/ending place of Yangtze River cruise. Most of tourists come to Chongqing to take Yangtze River cruise to visit Three Gorges. So let’s take a look how to get from Jiangbei Airport to Chaotianmen Dock to boarding the ship.

Chaotianmen Dock is near the city center, 28km from Jiangbei Airport, here are three means of transportation for you to choose:
