Option 1: Suzhou to Nanjing Train (Most Efficient & Recommended Way)

There are over 200 trains running from Suzhou to Nanjing and among them about 150 are high speed trains (1-2 hours). All the four railway stations (Suzhou Railway Station, Suzhou North Railway Station, Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station, Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station) in Suzhou operate high speed trains and Suzhou Railway Station is the most chosen one because of the frequent schedules and convenient location in downtown.

Suzhou Railway Station (苏州站)
Location: No. 27 Suzhan Road, Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province (江苏省苏州市姑苏区苏站路27号), about 3.5 km (15 minutes by car, 30 minutes by bus) to Suzhou downtown (Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, Pingjiang Road); about 28 km (45 minutes by car, 1h40min by metro and bus) to Tongli Water Town.

Location: Nantiancheng Road, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province (江苏省苏州市相城区南天城路), about 16 km (30 minutes by car, 1 hour by metro) to Suzhou downtown (Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, Pingjiang Road); about 38 km (50 minutes by car, 2 hours by metro and bus) to Tongli Water Town.

Nanjing South Railway Station (南京南站)
Location: No. 98 Yulan Road, Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City (南京市雨花台区玉兰路98号), about 11 km (40min by car or metro) to Nanjing downtown (Xinjiekou), 14 km (45 minutes by car, 1.5 hours by metro and bus) to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.

Nanjing Railway Station (南京站)
Location: No. 111 Longpan Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing City (南京市玄武区龙蟠路111号), about 8 km (30 minutes by car, 20 minutes by metro) to Nanjing downtown (Xinjiekou), 12 km (30 minutes by car, 70 minutes by metro and bus) to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.

Option 2: Suzhou to Nanjing Bus

For such a short distance, you can also travel from Nanjing to Suzhou by long-distance bus, which takes about 3 hours. There are many buses you can choose running from Suzhou Beiguangchang Bus Station (苏州北广场站), Suzhou South Bus Station (苏州南门汽车客运站), Wujiang Bus Station (吴江汽车客运站) to Nanjing Bus Passenger Terminal (南京汽车客运站) and Nanjing South Bus Station (南京汽车客运南站). But the bus schedules are usually uncertain and you need to buy the ticket on site. Therefore, to save your time and for a better travel experience, Suzhou to Nanjing high speed train is more recommended.

How to Plan a Suzhou Nanjing Trip

Usually, a classic Suzhou Nanjing tour needs about 4 days. If you have more time and are quite interested in local culture, you can add 1 to 2 more days to visit more attractions, join in more local featured activities to make an in-depth Suzhou Nanjing tour.
