Get from Nanjing to Shanghai by Normal Train

Train Time: about 3 hours ~ 4 hours

Frequency: over 40 trains (K & T & Z Train) per day

From & To: Nanjing Railway Station 南京站 → Shanghai South & Shanghai Railway Station 上海南&上海站

Running Speed: 120 km/h

At the same time, there are over 40 normal speed trains running from Nanjing to Shanghai. The train journey is at least two times of a high speed train, about 3 ~ 4 hours, some even lasts 6 hours. The earliest normal train leaves at nearly 01:00 am and the last train departs Nanjing at 10:30 pm in the evening.

Tips: Though the normal train tickets are cheaper than the high speed trains, but the slower speed, longer duration, simple facilities lead to a less-considered choice for traveling to Shanghai from Nanjing.

Get from Nanjing to Shanghai by Bus

In addition, Nanjing has several long-distance buses to Shanghai every day, which needs approximately 4.5 hours. Some buses depart from Nanjing Gaocun Bus Station (南京高淳汽车站) and arrive in Shanghai Hutai Road Bus Station, while there is one bus leaving from Nanjing Lishui Bus Station (南京溧水汽车客运站) and terminate at the North Square of Shanghai Railway Station. All the buses departs in the early morning.
