high speed train
Can I face language problem when I ride high speed train from kunming to shanghai.
2019-03-10 12:15
Hi Shah alam,

Thanks for your message. If you are traveling from Kunming to Shanghai by high speed train, you don’t need to worry about the language issue. After you arrive at the railway station, most directions and signs at the stations are in both Chinese and English, very clear to recognize, which can help you check in and board smoothly. And the attendants standing at the entrance of each carriage will also help you easily locate your carriage and seat. Better show them your ticket, because the staff knows little or just speak simple English. Once onboard, near all facilities are in bilingual (Mandarin & English), including the number of your seat, insturctions of toilets, water, the current running speed and the next station, terminus and etc. Boardcast will tell you your next stop and time needed in Chinese and English.

If you really concerns about the language, you can prepare a note to write down what you want to get, or download the Pleco, a very popular travel app to translate your language to Chinese. Here is our most useful Chinese phrase for China train travel: https://www.chinadiscovery.com/china-trains/chinese-phrases.html which may helps.

Best Regards! Wish you enjoy your Kunming Shanghai train travel.
