Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is a relaxing city featured in its “slow-pace life”. It is also the hometown to giant panda – an adorable animal attracting thousands of tourists. Chengdu East Railway Station and Chengdu Railway Station operate 5 daily high speed trains (1 G-train and 4 D-trains) to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai Railway Station. All the high speed trains start from Chengdu in the morning (07:12 ~ 10:57) and arrive in Shanghai at night (20:52 ~ 23:02). You need to stay 11.5 ~ 15 hours on the train but the experience is more interesting than on airplane. The high speed railway from Chengdu to Shanghai is about 1,976 km (1,228 miles) long and it passes through Chongqing City, Hubei Province, Anhui Province and Zhejiang Province. There are more than 20 railway stations along the road, but the high speed trains just stop in some of the railway stations, such as Chongqing North (重庆北), Xian North (西安北), Zhengzhou East (郑州东), Yichang East (宜昌东), Hefei South (合肥南), Nanjing South (南京南) and Suzhou North (苏州北) and so on.
Chengdu East Railway Station (Chengdudong Railway Station, 成都东)
Chengdu East Railway Station is the main high speed railway station in Chengdu at present. It is located in Qingyijiang Road, Chenghua District (成都市成华区青衣江路) in eastern Chengdu. It is well-connected with metro Line 2 and Line 3. You can directly to get to the city center from Chengdu East Railway Station by metro Line 2. Chengdu Railway Station (成都站)
Location: No.1 Zhandong Road, Jinniu District, Northern Chengdu (成都市金牛区站东路1号)
Also called Chengdu North Railway Station by local people, Chengdu Railway Station is an old train station currently operating normal trains and a small number of high speed trains. It is located in. Tourists can take metro Line 7 to get there as well and there are airport shuttle buses running between this railway station and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station (上海虹桥站)
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is located in No. 1500, Mingui Road, Minhang District (上海市闵行区申贵路1500号) and just near Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. It is available to transfer between the railway station and Terminal 2 of the airport within 10 minutes’ walking. Tourists can also get there by maglev train, subway (metro Line 2 and Line 10), public bus and taxi. It is well connected with Shanghai Pudong International Airport and some attractions by subway, like Yuyuan Garden, Zhongshan Park, Lujiazui and Nanjing Road. Shanghai Railway Station (上海站)
Located in No. 303, Moling Road, Jing'an District (上海市静安区秣陵路303号) in the downtown, Shanghai railway station offers quick access to the nearby attractions like Nanjing Road, the Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, etc. Accessible subway in Shanghai Railway Station includes metro Line 1, Line 3 and Line 4.

Book, Collect, Alter and Cancel a Ticket
The train ticket can be booked online, with a ticket agency, at the ticket offices in railway stations etc. Remember to book your ticket as soon as possible, especially in the peak seasons. Reading tickets carefully to make sure that you get to the correct railway station and board the correct train. For foreign travelers without Chinese ID card, you have to collect, alter and cancel your train ticket from the ticket offices. Board & Disembark a Train
1) Prepare your documents well (passport, visa); 2) Get to the right trains station in advance 3) collect train tickets; 4) Read your train ticket; 5) Pass the Identity Check; 6) Security check & luggage check; 7) Find right waiting room; 8) Cross the ticket checking gate; 9) Get to the right platform; 10) Get on your train. Generally, the luggage won't be weighed and measured specifically, so you can take as much as you can hand it independently and place it in the train station.
