Zhangjiajie is situated in the northwest of Hunan Province while Fenghuang Ancient Town is located in the west side, bordering with Guizhou Province (61 km from Tongren City and 123 km from its UNESCO World Heritage Site - Fanjingshan Mountain). Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang High Speed Train (1 hour)– Fastest Way

For independent tourists, you can also choose to travel from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang by high speed train. There are 9 high speed trains operating from Zhangjiajie West Railway Station to Fenghuanggucheng Railway Station. It takes about 1 hour only, but you need to take a bus or a taxi to get to Fenghuang Ancient City which is 10 km (about 30 minutes’ drive) away from Fenghuanggucheng Railway Station. By Bus (3.5-4 Hours) - Cheapest Way Recommended for Independent Travelers

● Wulingyuan Bus Station (武陵源汽车站)

Location & Detailed Address: Opposite to Santo Domingo International Hotel, Guihua Road, Wulingyuan Town, Zhangjiajie City (张家界市武陵源区桂花路圣多明歌国际大酒店对面)

Transportation: with walking distance to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wujiayu Ticket Station); It is about 33 kilometers to Zhangjiajie downtown.

● Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station (张家界中心汽车站)

Location & Detailed Address: Guanli Road, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City (张家界市永定区官黎路)

Transportation: It is about 6 kilometers from Tianmen Mountain (about 15 minutes by driving) and about 29 kilometers from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (about 40-50 minutes by driving).

● Fenghuang Bus Station (凤凰总客运站)

Location & Detailed Address: No.1 Fenghuang North Road, Fenghuang Town, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (凤凰北路1号)

Transportation: about 1 KM to Fenghuang Ancient Town.

How to choose the bus station:

1. If you are in Wulingyuan Scenic Area (including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzi Mountain, Baofeng Lake and Yellow Dragon Cave), you’d better take the coach at Wulingyuan Bus Station.

2. If you are in Zhangjiajie downtown area (including Tianmen Mountain and Zhangjiajie Tujia Folk Culture Park), taking the long distance coach at Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station will be more convenient.

If you choose to take a taxi from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang Ancient Town, it is expensive and may cost around CNY 700 and more.

How to Get from Fenghuang to Zhangjiajie

A small part of travelers choose to visit Fenghuang Ancient Town first and then head to Zhangjiajie to see the Avatar Mountains and experience the thrilling glass bridge at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon or Tianmen Mountain. Similarly, travelers can take bus, taxi or train plus bus to Zhangjiajie.

Taking a high speed train from Fenghuang Ancient City to Zhangjiajie is the most efficient way. There are about 10 high speed train for you choice as well, and all of them from Fenghuangucheng Railway Station to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station. How to choose the bus station:

1. If you want to get to Zhangjiajie downtown are first, you’d better choose to arrive at Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station which is located in the downtown area of Zhangjiajie.

2. If you want to extend closely to Wulingyuan Scenic Area like Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Baofeng Lake or Yellow Dragon Cave, it is a good idea to arrive at Wulingyuan Bus Station.
