Day 1 Chengdu - Shangli - Bifengxia (L)
In this morning, your local travel guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Chengdu, and then escort you for about 2.5 hours to the Rain City – Ya’an.
Your first stop of today is Shangli Ancient Town. Ranked as one of the “Top 10 Ancient Towns” in Sichuan, it is a little town which has a mix of reconstructed and original ancient architecture. Enjoy a stroll through the shop-lined alley between beautiful old-style buildings where, if it’s not raining, bamboo shoots are laid out on big straw mats to dry. Find a quite spot by the river to relax and sip on a cup of tea or try some local snacks.
After that, you will be driven for about half an hour to Bifengxia Panda Base to join in the pre-work training about your panda volunteer program. You will know how to do the daily work of the staff at the base, get the volunteer’s suit, gloves, passing card, and go through some relative procedures to get well preparation.
Stay overnight in Ya’an.

Bifengxia Panda Base
Day 2 Bifengxia Panda Volunteer (B, L)
On this day, you will be transferred from your hotel to Bifengxia Panda Base, where you can see giant panda living happily in their real homeland city of Ya’an. Take your rare opportunity to start your meaningful 1 full day giant panda volunteer activity and help protect them by your own contribution. activities include:
1. Clean the enclosures of pandas, take out left-over bamboos and replenish fresh bamboos;
2. Visit panda yards in different areas and learn about interesting stories and facts about Giant Pandas;
3. Visit Scientific & Educational Museum of Giant Panda;
4. Enjoy your lunch together with staff in the panda base. Then take a break or watch the science documentary about giant pandas;
5. Watch an educational documentary film about giant pandas;
6. Know about the recipe of panda cakes and make cakes for the giant panda with the help of the staff;
7. Make a panda-themed handicraft on your own;
8. Receive the panda volunteer’s certificate and souvenirs and have a group photo at the base to keep this good moment.
After the volunteering work, return to your hotel.

Enjoy Time as A Panda Volunteer at Bifengxia Panda Base
Trip Notes:
1. The above arrangements may be adjusted according to the specific situations.
2. Requirements:
(a) Health Examination Form: To be a volunteer, you should apply for at least a week in advance with your Application Form and Health Examination Form (valid medical certificate and signature which could apply it in your country or in China). Interested people could feel free to contact our travel consultant for more information or let them register for you.
(b) Age & Number Limitations: The center can accept up to 40 volunteers at one time (only 20 volunteers once in July and August) and the age should be between 8 and 70.
(c) Avoid Using Strong Smell: For pandas have keen sense of smell, volunteers should avoid using perfume or other odorous articles like mosquito repellent liquid, nail polish, skin care products, makeups, etc. on the volunteer work day.
(d) Healthy Bodies: To well protect giant pandas, volunteers are required to be healthy, and people who are suffering from illness, like a cold, fever, influenza, and other infectious diseases are not suitable to have body contact with the giant pandas.
(e) Dressing Code: During the panda volunteer program, you are required to wear working suites provided by the panda base. Shoes are up to you, but avoid avoid sandals, slippers, high-heels, etc.
(f) Force Majeure: The panda volunteer program is to be delayed or inaccessible if there is Force Majeure like earthquakes, epidemic... Also, your program may be influenced by the inevitable requirement and control.

Day 3 Mount Mengding - Chengdu (B, L)
After breakfast, you’ll head to Mengding Mountain by driving for about 40 minutes. Mengding Mountain is the world holy mountain of tea for it is the cradle of tea civilization and tea culture of the whole world. As the saying goes “The Yangtze River tops the waters, the Mengding tea is best of its kind.” It has a history of more than 1,000 years in tea planting, tea making and tea tasting art.
You will first see the No.1 Teapot in the world, then proceed to the Tea Culture Museum, take the cable car to the mid-mountain, enjoy tea break at Tiangai Temple, and appreciate Poem Steles related to tea, walk in Mengdingshan Royal Tea Garden. You’ll surely get some general ideas about the profound tea culture along the way.
After tea culture exploration, you’ll continue to visit tea factory, pick tea in the plantation, and see the whole process about how Mengding tea is made. (Tips: The tea picking activity and performance are offered during late March to June. If you go there away from the tea-picking period, you can visit Bifengxia Valley instead to get relaxed by the eye-pleasing natural sceneries or directly return to Chengdu. After the happy cultural time in Mengdingshan, drive back to Chengdu. Tour ends!
