Heaven Lake

No.1 Tianchi Lake

Tianchi Lake is located on the Heaven Mountain. In ancient fairytale, it was the fairyland where the Heavenly Queen lived. It is the best summer resort in Xinjiang. Tianchi Lake comes down to a depth of nearly 100m. Ices on the Heaven Mountain thaw and flow into the lake. Summer is the best time to visit Tianchi Lake. Cruising on a boat, enjoying the breathtaking picturesque views of inverted reflection of snow mountains, flourishing plants and blooming flowers around the lake.

Tianchi Lake is about 110km away from Urumqi. There are scheduled buses from Urumqi to the lake every day.

Xinjiang Regional Museum

No.2 Xinjiang Regional Museum

Xinjiang Regional Museum is integrated museum, located in the Urumqi City. It is a beautiful builing decorated by Uygur style, and has more than 5,000 arts and history relics. It features in three exhibition hall:

1. Ethnic Exhibition - display of 12 ethnic groups' costume, living, festival celebration, dining, religion, etc.

2. History Reclics Exhibition - arts and reclics unearthed on the "Silk Road", including silk products, terracottas, coins, weapons, etc.

3. Mummy Exhibition - well preserved mummies of ancinet people lived in Xinjiang. "Loulan Beauty"is the most famous one.

Id Kah Mosque

Id Kah Mosque is the largest mousque in China, and one of three largest in middle Asia. It is located on the west of Id Kah Square in Kashgar. Getting close to Id Kah Mosque, you will be impressed by the elegant blue gate of mosque. Id Kah Mosque is the holy land for the Muslims. Everyday, there are thousands of Muslims worshipping here. In the history, Id Kah Mosque used to be a school where taught Islam culture. Many scholars and honored clergies graduated from here.

Jiaohe Ancient City

Jiaohe Ancient City is renowned as the "perfect ruin of earth building" because it has been well preserved for almost two thousands years. It is incredible that these earth buildings dug from soil used to be the capital city of the former Cheshi State which housed 700 households, 6500 residents plus 865 soldiers. The whole city covers 360,000 square meters. Most of buildings we can see so far were built during Tang Dynasty. Small but complete, there are specific buildings for manufacture, military defense, official work, etc.

Kanas Lake

Kanas Lake is located at the north of Burqin County on the Altay Mountain. It is a great place for summer resort, leisure sightseeing and photography. Kanas, in Mogolian, means “beautiful, rich and mysterious”. The lake was formed as a result of glacier movement of around around 200, 000 years ago. Kanas Lake takes on different colors with the change of weather and seasons. The lake takes the shape of falcate with 6 platforms projecting inward. Every platform has its own legend.

Karakul Lake

Karakul Lake is located about 190 km from the Kashgar City, Xinjiang. It seats at the foot of the Muztagh Ata (7546m), and along the China Pakistan Highway. At an altitude of 3600m, Karakul Lake is the highest lake of the Pamir plateau. It also features in the amazing combination of lake and snow mountain views. At its surrounding, there are three giant mountains - Muztagh Ata (7546m), Kongur Tagh (7649m) and Kongur Tiube (7530m) which remain snow-covered throughout the year. The best season to visit Karakul Lake are Summer and Autumn when travelers come in great numbers to see the unreal scenery and the clarity of its reflection in the water, whose color ranges from a dark green to azure and light blue.
