Xian to Mount Hua Travel Plans - How to Get from Xian to Mount Hua 2024

Location: Yuanshuo Road, Weiyang District, Xian City (陕西省西安市未央区元朔路)

Xianbei (Xian North) Railway Station is about 15km (50 minutes’ drive considering the traffic situation) to the north of Xian downtown around the area of Ancient City Wall and Bell Tower. Though not situated in city center, Xian North Railway Station is well connected with other parts of Xian by subway and bus.

From Xi’an downtown (Ancient City Wall): about 15km, 50 minutes’ drive; or take subway Line 2, about 45 minutes.

Location: North end of Huayue Avenue, Huayin, Shaanxi (陕西省华阴市华岳大道北端)

Huashanbei (Huashan North) Railway Station is a high speed railway station on Zhengzhou-Xian section of the Xuzhou-Lanzhou High-speed Railway. Its operation facilitates tourists a lot because they can take a one-day tour to Mount Hua from other hot tourist destinations on the line such as Luoyang, Zhengzhou, and Xian.

To Mount Hua: about 4.5km, 13 minutes’ drive; or take free tourist bus Line 1, 20 minutes.

As of October 2019, Xian Bus Station (西安汽车站) operates hourly buses to Mount Hua from 07:00 to 19:00. They will take you directly to the scenic spot in about 1.5 hours. The ticket price is CNY 39.5 per person.

1. There are many bus stations in Xian. Xian Bus Station here is located at No. 354 Jiefang Road, Xincheng Distric (新城区解放路354号), next to Xian Railway Station.

People usually spend 2-4 days visiting Xian and Huashan. When you are in Xian, the Terracotta Warriors buried for more than 2000 years is definitely a must-see. And it would be a pleasant experience to take a stroll or rent a bike on the Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China, to enjoy panoramic views of modern Xi’an. Apart from that, the snack street Muslim Quarter, symbol of Xian the Bell Tower, bright pearl in ancient capital Shaanxi History Museum, the Buddhist culture demonstrator Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, etc. are also worth a go. You can choose some of them according to your schedule.

As for Mount Hua, you can either set aside one day to finish hiking with the help of the cable car, or stay a night on the mountain. But please be kindly noted that the accommodation on the mountain may be far from satisfying. For 1-day hiking, the recommended route is Tourist Center – North Peak Cable Car – East Peak – South Peak – West Peak – West Peak Cable Car – Tourist Center, which will take 6 – 8 hours.
