We had a wonderful short visit thanks to China Discovery. We spent two days in Beijing seeing some of the big sites, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven (inc. a Tai Chi session with a Master), the Pearl Market and a Hutong. In addition, our main reason for going, a two day trek along sections of the more deserted Wall, both unrestored and restored, either side of Jinshanling, was tough at times but absolutely sensational. After the busy crowds of peak season tourists in the city, we had the Wall to ourselves for much of the time, which was bliss. We even managed to squeeze in a trip to Gubei Water Town.

All credit goes to the team: the ever patient Tracy Tan in the office, who put the tour together; guides Peter (trekking & city tour 1), Lock (city tour 2) and Joe (initial pick up /settling in) who were exceptionally proficient English speakers and considerate with our needs. Our driver Mr Hu kept us safe in the hectic traffic and was always early with a smile for pick ups etc.

Our biggest challenges were the Great Firewall and the Chinese language. However, our time was greatly eased by Tracy providing us with a portable wifi, which kept us connected, and the guides helping us to sign up to We Chat with its built in translation and payment facilities.

They deserved a solid 5 out of 5 and we would recommend them highly.
