We had an absolutely amazing trip in the Sichuan Province, thanks to China Discovery. Tracy Tan was our agent and had great communication with us prior to our trip. We were greeted at the airport by a wonderful guide named Sandy. Our first day was a rest day but he very kindly gave us the suggestion of seeing the Sichuan Opera that night and helped us in purchasing the tickets. The next day we were greeted by a new guide Ivy whom showed us around Chengdu. I really loved all the knowledge she offered up about Buddhism and the different elements we saw in the Wenshu temple and she was just such an enjoyable person to be around. Playing cards in Renmin park and drinking tea was perfect. The next day we were escorted to the train station where we took a train to JiuZhai Valley stop where our next tour guide Mary greeted us. Then the next day we finally got to visit the place that's been on my radar for many many years as a top spot I wanted to go, JiuZhaiGou! Mary took us on the best walking routes to see the beauty of the different lakes. Then the next day we traveled to hours to Huanglong another bucket list item but really everything on this trip was a bucket list item for me. Ngl my legs were absolutely killing me after this day with all the stair steps down the mountain, but it was well worth it. Mary was such a delight. I mean really all the tour guides were. After a long day we went back on the bullet train and we're picked up by our next guide Martin who would take us to LeShan the next day and Emeishan the following and I was so excited to actually see wild monkeys!!! Martin was of course also an excellent at his job and very personable, and I think we made a real friend in Martin. Upon returning to Chengdu, I had requested another rest day which actually meant my partner and I taking the metro and getting caught up in the cool underground mall that was cosplay and anime central. We also navigated ourselves back to peoples park for some last fun before returning to the hotel lobby to be escorted by Martin back to the airport where he was very helpful because i wouldn't have understood the process. I highly highly recommend China Discovery. The hotels were beautiful. The tour plan amazing. The guides excellent. The drivers friendly (Although I'll say the rural driving scares me but is apparently normal so I imagine an uppity elderly couple might be more scared).

And what I can say for visiting China itself is that the people are amazing, the food is excellent, and basic mandarin skills will get you a long way in having excellent experiences in the evenings when your tour guides dip out. But translation on Alipay makes things very easy. Especially Chengdu is an easy place to navigate. Also, if you have light skin and naturally blonde hair, expect to get a lot of attention. We had people taking pictures of us, which I dont mind at all. But also we were swarmed by school children and one kid handed my boyfriend a handful of potato chips. They were very excited we were from America, and the interaction really tickled me. Anyway, I hope this review encourages you to visit!
