Where is Yinchuan Located
Ningxia is located in the northwest part of China and Yinchuan is located in the north part of Ningxia. It borders Shizhuishan City in the north, Wuzhong City in the south, Alxa League in the west and Ordos City in the east. It is 929 km (577 miles) to Beijing, 1615 km (1003 miles) to Shanghai, and 304 km (189 miles) to Lanzhou.

Get to Yinchuan by Flight
As the capital and tourists distribution center of Yinchuan, Yinchuan is the perfect jumping-off point for travelers. It can be reached easily by flights from many cities and by high speed trains from some cities.
Yinchuan Hedong International Airport (银川河东国际机场，IATA: INC, ICAO: ZLIC)
Address: inhe Town, Lingwu City, Yichuan City (银川市灵武市临河镇), about 35 km away from Yinchuan City
Yinchuan Hedong International Airport is the only airport serving Yinchuan. It operates over 10 international flights to/off Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Nagoya, Osaka, Bangkok and Seoul, as well as about 100 domestic flights to/off Beijing (2.5h), Xian (1h15m), Shanghai(3h10m), Guangzhou (3h10m), Shenzhen (3.5h), Chengdu (1h15m), Chongqing (2h), Zhengzhou (2h), Wuhan (2h15m), Xining (1h5m), etc.
Transfer: There are 4 scheduled shuttle bus lines connecting Yinchuan Hedong International airport with Yinchuan City. It is also convenient to take a taxi to get to or leave the airport.

Yinchuan Railway Station (银川站)

Yinchuan Railway Station is the main railway station serving Yinchuan, it runs both high speed trains and normal trains. You can take a high speed D-train or G-train from several major cities in China, including Xian (3h), Shanghai (11.5), Zhengzhou (5.5h), Chengdu (7h), Jinan (9h), Hefei (9 h), Qingdao (10.5h), Hangzhou (12h), etc., or a normal Z-train or K-train from most big cities or capital cities, Beijing (10.5h), Xian (13h), Shanghai (34h), Guangzhou (41h), Hangzhou (33h), Nanjing (26h), Shijiazhuang (11.5), Taiyuan (6h), etc.

Get from Beijing to Yinchuan
Linear Distance: 929 km (577 miles)
Duration: 2~2.5 hours by flight and 10.5 hours by train
If you want to start a Yinchuan tour from Beijing, taking a flight is the best way. There are about 10 daily non-stop flights from Beijing to Yinchuan, and the whole trip takes 2 ~ 2.5 hours. Most of the flights take off from Beijing Daxing International Airport and others take off from Beijing Capital International Airport. Flights from Beijing Capital International Airport are more recommended because of its location in downtown area. At present, there is no high speed train connecting Beijing with Yinchuan, but you can take a normal train for a budget tour. There are 2 daily normal trains departing from Beijing West Railway Station at night and getting to Yinchuan in the morning of the next day. The whole train journey takes about 1.5 hours.
Get from Shanghai to Yinchuan
Distance: 1615 km (1003 miles)
Linear Duration: .5 hours by flight, 11.5 hours by high speed train, and 30 ~ 34 hours by normal K-train
As China’s most prosperous city, Shanghai operates about 7 nonstop daily flights to Yinchuan with duration of about 3.5 hours. Most flights depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airprot and several flights depart from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. In additional to flights, there is 1 daily high speed G-train and 3 normal K-train running from Shanghai to Yinchuan. The high speed train departs from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and takes about 10.5 hours, while the K-trains depart from Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station, and take 30 ~ 34 hours.
Get from Xian to Yinchuan
Linear Distance: 1 hour 15 minutes by flight, 3 ~ 3.5 hours by high speed train, and 13 hours by normal train
Duration: 2.5 hours by flight or 15.5 ~ 25 hours by train
If you want an efficient journey, taking a flight is available. There is only 1 daily flight flying from Xian Xianyang International Airport to Yinchuan Hedong International Airport with duration of 1 hour 15 minutes. However, we suggest you take a high speed train instead, because Xian Xianyang International Airport is 40 km away from Xian Downtown, and Xian North Railway Station is just several kilometers from Xian Downtown. There are 7 high speed trains from Xian North Railway Station to Yinchuan Railway Station, including 3 G-trains and 4 D-trains. Taking a high speed train, you can get to Yinchuan from Xian within 3.5 hours usually. 2 K-trains are also available from Xian Railway Station to Yinchuan Railway Station, and it needs about 13 hours totally.
Get from Yinchuan to Zhongwei
Distance: 126 km (78 miles)
Duration: 1~1.5 hours by high speed train, 2.5 hours by normal trains and 2.5 hours by drive
Apart from Yinchuan, Zhongwei in Ningxia is also an attractive destination to explore. Traveling between Yinchuan and Zhongwei is quite convenient. There are 3 daily high speed C-trains running from Yinchuan Railway Station (also passing by Hedong Airprot) to Zhongwei South Railway Station with duration of only 1 ~ 1.5 hours. Several normal trains are also accessible but needing a bit longer time.
Inner Public Transportation in Yinchuan
At present there is no metro operating in Yinchuan City and you can only travel around by public bus, taxi or private driving.
Public Bus: There are about 10 bus routes in Yinchuan City and you can take a bus in the downtown area. However, it is not convenient to travel between two of the main attractions or transfer hubs.
Taxi: Taking a taxi is quite easy in Yinchuan City and it takes less time than public buses. What you need to know is that most of the taxi drivers in Yinchuan don’t understand English and you need to write down your destination in Chinese in advance.

How to Get to Yinchuan: It is easy to take a flight to Yinchuan from Beijing (2.5h), Shanghai (about 3h), Xian (about 1.5 h), Guangzhou (about 3 h), Shenzhen (about 3.5h), Chengdu (about 1.5 h), Chongqing (about 2h), etc.
Best Time to Visit Yinchuan: May to October is the best time to visit Yinchuan. It is cold in late autumn and winter (November ~ next February) and rather windy in early and mid-spring (March and April).
