Mutianyu Great Wall

Mutianyu Great Wall is located in Huairou District of Beijing, approximately 73km away from Beijing. It connect Huanghuacheng Great Wall from west, and link Gubeikou Great Wall from east, stretches total 5.4km. It was also built in Ming Dynasty as a important denfesive parts of Great Wall of China. Mutianyu Great Wall has several features: 1. Densive vegetation - Mutianyu Great Wall lies on the fluctuant hills with many kinds of trees, plants, wild flowers, which makes Mutianyu very beautiful in each season. 2. Spectacular architectural fort style - the most outstanding fort is Zhengguan Fort which composes of three towers - largest one in the middle, other two small on the two sides. From Zhengguan Fort, you can get panaramic views of Mutianyu Great Wall; 3. Densive defensive towers - there are 29 towers within only 3500 meters; 4. two-side crenels - only the Mutianyu section has two-side crenels which means solders could fight against enemies from both sides; 5. There are branch walls both in and outside of the may great walls; 6. Steric views - the elevation of walls increase and decrease sharply.

Hike Mutianyu Great Wall

Hike Mutianyu Great Wall is very easy with good-condition paths. It takes about 3 hours to walk from the first tower on the eastern edge to the 22th tower on the western edge. You can hike up to the tourist rest area between the No. 6 and No. 7 towers. You can also take the cable car to the rest area. Then walk about 20 minutes to the No. 1 tower - Dajiao Tower where you have to hike back to the No. 6 tower, and keep hiking up to the final No. 22 tower. The further regions from No. 22 tower are some wild great walls which are forbidden to tourists.
