How to Get to & Around Hangzhou West Lake

Hangzhou Metro Line 1 and Line 2 are available at West Lake, and you can choose from the following four metro stations to visit the lake. However, it still depends on which part of the lake you want to visit.

• Wushan Square Station 吴山广场 (Line 7): closer to Leifeng Pagoda, Nanping Hill, Fish Viewing at the Flower Pond; walking about 11 mins (600 meters) to West Lake

• Dingan Road Station 定安路 (Line 1): closer to Yongjin Park, King Qian Temple, Orioles Singing in the Willows; walking about 15 mins (820 meters) to West Lake

• Longxiangqiao Station 龙翔桥 (Line 1): closer to West Lake Musical Fountain, 2nd Park, 4th Park, Hubin Road; walking about 5 mins (250 meters) to West Lake

• Fengqi Road Station 凤起路 (Line 1 & Line 2): closer to Broken Bridge and Bai Causeway, walking about 15 mins (750 meters) to West Lake

Hangzhou East Railway Station Address: No. 1 Tiancheng Road, Jianggan District, Hangzhou (杭州市江干区天城路1号)

• By Car

It usually takes about 0.5 hour with 12km of driving on the way.

• By Metro

Take Metro Line 1 to get off at Anding Road Metro Station, and walk about 820m for 15 mins to the West Lake. Or, take Metro Line 4, transfer to Metro Line 7 at Citizens City Metro station, and get off at Wushan Square Metro Station. Then, walk about 660m to West Lake for about 11 mins. Such a way needs about 40-50 mins in total.

From Hangzhou West Railway Station

Hangzhou West Railway Station Address: West of Liangmu Road, Cangqian Street, Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province (浙江省杭州市余杭区仓前街道良睦路西侧)

• By Car

Take a car to directly reach the West Lake for about 50 mins, with a driving distance of about 29 km.

• By Metro

Take Metro Line 19, transfer to Metro Line 1 at West Lake Cultural Square Metro Station, and get off at Anding Road Metro Station. Then, walk about 820m for 15 mins to the West Lake. Or, take Metro Line 3 to transfer at Wulin Square Metro Station, and get off at Anding Road Metro Station, followed by about 15 mins' walk. The whole travel needs about 1 hour.

From Hangzhou Railway Station

Hangzhou Railway Station Address: No. 1 Huancheng East Road, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou (浙江省杭州市上城区环城东路1号)

• By Car

A car can take you to West Lake directly for about 10-15 mins, with a driving distance of about 3 km.

• By Metro

If you go by metro, you can take Metro Line 5 to Jiangcheng Metro Station, transfer to Metro Line 7 to get off at Wushan Square Metro Station. Then, walk about 660m to West Lake for about 11 mins. It takes a total of about 0.5 hour.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is the only airport in Hangzhou, which offers frequent flights from / to over 110 domestic destinations and about 50 international cities (regions). People flying to Hangzhou can transfer to West Lake by our private car, taxi, airport shuttle bus, Hangzhou metro, public bus, etc.

By Airport Shuttle Bus

You can take a shuttle bus heading to Wulin Gate (Wulinmen) for about 2 hours and then take a taxi to West Lake for about 8-15 mins. Besides, many public buses are available from Wulinmen.

By Metro

Take Metro Line 7 from the airport to get off at Wushan Square Metro Station for about 1 hour. Then, walk about 660m to West Lake for about 11 mins.
