Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train (Chinese: 广九直通车 or廣九直通車) is an inter-city railway service between Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Those Z-trains depart from Guangzhou East Railway Station (Guangzhoudong 广州东站) and arrive at Hong Kong Hung Hom Station (红磡站) within 2 hours. Every day, there are about 12 scheduled Tough Trains running from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, some of them are KTT double-decker trains and others are the common single-decker trains. Passengers taking the Trough Trains will go through the immigration formalities before departing from Guangzhou East Railway Station and on arrival at Hong Kong Hung Hom Station. Therefore, you can travel from Guangzhou to Hong Kong via Shenzhen. The travelling time of the bullet trains is about 0.5-1.5 hours, and the MTR takes about 1 hour.
