Qufu East Railway Station 曲阜东站 (High Speed Train Station)

Qufu East Railway Station, also called Qufudong Railway Station is a junction station on Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway and Qizhao-Lankao High Speed Railway. The station, put into use on June 30, 2011, covers a total building area of 29,988 square meters and 6 platforms and 16 rail tracks.

At present, the Jinan East Railway Station is a vital railway station in Jinan for it handles all high speed trains to/off Qufu. The trains are running on the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway and Rizhao-Qufu section of the Rizhao-Lankao High Speed Railway. If you take the high speed train from Beijing to Jinan East Railway Station, it takes about 2.5 hours and 3.5~4 hours from Shanghai, just half an hour to within 1 hour from Jinan and 20 minutes from Tai’an Railway Station near Mount Tai. In the future, Qufu East Railway Station will also be a middle station on the Jinan-Zaozhuang High Speed Railway (expected to come into service in 2024).

Transfer to Downtown & Other Jinan Attractions

Qufu East Railway Station is located in the northeast suburb of Jinan, farther from the downtown than Qufu Railway Station. Though Qufu is a small city, it’s highly advised to take a private car or taxi to get around, for it is very convenient and can largely save your time.

Qufu East Railway Station - the City Center: about 11 km, 20 minutes by driving; almost 1 hour by local bus (Qufu Bus d09, k30, k01)

Qufu East Railway Station - The Temple of Confucius: about 13 km, 30 minutes by driving; 50 minutes by local bus (Qufu Bus k01)

Qufu Railway Station 曲阜站 (Closer to the Confucius Temple & Downtown)

Built in 1981, Qufu Railway Station is an old small railway station located near downtown Jinan. The station nowadays is rarely used, because it only runs a few normal trains to Qufu on the Yanzhou-Shijiusuo Railway (兖石铁路, a regional traditional railway linking Rizhao and Jining in Shandong). There are 3 platforms and 5 tracks, but only 1 is used for passengers.

Major Train Routes to Qufu Railway Station

Qufu Railway Station merely operates trains between Qufu and connected cities in Shandong via the Yanzhou-Shijiusuo Railway 兖石铁路, such as Rizhao, Yantai, Weihai, Qingdao, Jinan, Heze, etc. The trains depart from Beijing Railway Station to Qufu Railway Station are both overnight trains arriving in Qufu the next morning, thus, it’s not recommended when compared to 2.5 hours’ high speed train.

Transfer to Downtown & Major Attractions

Qufu Railway Station lies closer to the city center and main scenic spots than Qufu East Railway Station.

● Qufu Railway Station – the Downtown: about 5 km, 10~15 minutes’ drive; around 40 minutes by local bus (Qufu Bus d09, k05, 5, 3)
