Located in Xishuiyu, Duhe County, Huairou District, Beijing (北京市怀柔区九渡河镇西水峪村), Huanghuacheng Great Wall is next to the Jiankou Great Wall in the east and Juyong Pass in the west.,it is adjacent to Huairou District, Beijing, in the north. It is about 80km to Tiananmen Square, 63km to Badaling Great Wall, 68km to Summer Palace, 26km to Mutianyu Great Wall.

There are two gates located in the east of the Great Wall, and 3 piers lying around the dam and the bridge. The Great Wall entrances are in the western section with the chestnut garden facing with the submerged sections. Visiting Huanghuacheng Great Wall, you can enjoy both the mountainous scenery and the rippling lake and ponds.

Generally, the hike is not very challenging in Huanghuacheng Great Wall, not as Jiankou, but the view is different, thanks to the beautiful water reservoir. Also, there're only a few tourists on this section of the Wall. It is a lovely place to avoid the crowd.

There are 3 recommended visiting routes:

The first one (blue) starts at the west gate and stretches all the way to the pier, across the bridge, and the whole route is about 1.1km and can be finished within half an hour; The second one (green) is to hike along the trails on the mountains embracing the Haoming Lake, and it is the longest route, which takes around 40min; The third route (orange) is to travel the great wall by water from the pier near the dam to the pier around the bridge, which is a featured activity that you can only do in Huanghuacheng Great Wall; The last route (red) is from the central pier to the Heilong Pond, and you can visit the chestnut garden and multiple beautiful ponds.
