Mount Jiuhua (117° 29′E, 30° 40'N), subordinate to Qingyang County (青阳县), Chinzhou (池州市), Anhui Province (安徽省), is located on the South Bank of the Yangtze River in the north, facing Huangshan Mountain in the south. It’s only about 120km away from the famous Huangshan Mountain (Yellow Mountain) and well-connected by high-speed train to Shanghai in the east (about 430km).

Chizhou Jiuhuashan Airport (池州九华山机场) is nearest to Mount Jiuhua with the distance of about 30km to the scenic site. As of 2019, the airport opens 24 domestic airlines. During the certain season, you can take direct flights transferring between Mount Jiuhua and domestic cities like Beijing (2.5h), Shanghai (1.5h), Xian (2h), Chengdu (2.5h), Shenzhen (2.5h), Guangzhou (2h), Tianjin (2h), Lanzhou (2.5h), etc. If you would like to take a flight with more airlines, you can choose to Hefei Airport first and make a transfer from Hefei Airport to Mount Jiuhua.

• Chizhou Jiuhuashan Airport to Mount Jiuhua: Jiuhuashan airport is a relatively small airport, and there is no certain scheduled bus. Chizhou Railway Station (池州站) - Major Train Station

Address: Yongming Road, Guichi District, Chizhou, Anhui (安徽省池州市贵池区永明路池州站)
Transportation: Chizhou Railway Station is the main train station served in Chizhou and Mt. Jiuhuashan. The distance between Chizhou Railway Station and Mount Jiuhua is 45 kilometers which takes 40min to 1 hour for transfer by car.

Withou train station in Mount Jiutai Scenic Area, Chizhou Railway Station is the major high speed train station near Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area. It operates both normal Z/T/K trains and high-speed G/D/C trains. You can transfer between Chizhou and major cities in China such as Beijing (5.5-15h), Shanghai (8.5h) and cities within Anhui Province like Anqing (1.5h), Tongling (3-4h). However, please be noted that No direct bullet train is under operation from Chizhou Railway Station to Yellow Mountain and Jingdezhen.

How to get from Chizhou Railway Station to Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area

▶ By Tourist Bus: There are direct tourist buses offering free transfer from Chizhou Railway Station to Jiuhua Scenic Area for passengers who would purchase the sightseeing bus ticket of Mount Jiuhua. You can get on the tourist bus near the exit of Chizhou Railway Station and purchase it just on the bus. The sightseeing bus ticket fare is about CNY 50, and it is a necessity for many leisure hikers. The operation time of the direct tourist bus is from 9 am to 5 pm with the departure interval of every 1 to 2 hours. Besides, if you are not going to take the sightseeing buses in the scenic area. There are also direct buses serving you to the scenic area from about 7 am to 5 pm with a fare of about CNY 12 per person. The departure site is also about 100 meters around the exit of the Railway Station. The two kinds of direct tourist buses may usually take about 40min to the parking lot of Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area.

▶ By City Bus: There are also few city buses departing from the bus stop or Chizhou Railway Station to Jiuhuashan from about 6:30 am to 3:30 pm and the bus ticket is CNY 5 per person. Since there are lots of stops on your way to the Jiuhuashan and it takes more than 70min to reach the mount Jiuhua. Though the ticket fare is cheap, it is less recommended.

Jiuhuashan bus station is located near the ticket office of Mount Jiuhua scenic area. There are nearly 30 bus lines running between Mount Jiuhua and Tongling, Anqing, Hefei, Nanjing, Shanghai, Yiwu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Huangshan, Chizhou, Qingyang, etc. Among them, Mount Jiuhua to/from Yellow Mountain is very popular. Every day, there are two buses leaving for Yellow mountain, departing at 7:30 and 12:30 respectively. The followings are some popular bus lines.

Hefei to Mount Jiuhua by Bus

From 6:40 to 16:30 in every an hour, there will be a bus departing from Hefei South Bus Station (Xinnan Station) to Mount Jiuhua with the duration of 2.5-3 hours.

Chizhou to Mount Jiuhua by Bus

From 6:00 to 17:00, there are many buses departing from Chizhou Bus Station (near Chizhou Railway Station) to Mount Jiuhua with the duration of 40min to 1 hour.

Tonglin to Mount Jiuhua by Bus

Besides Chizhou, there are also buses from Tongling Railway Station to Mount Jiuhua scenic area. The departure time is around 1:30 pm, and it takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Get from Shanghai to Mount Jiuhua

Shanghai, the gateway city to Mount Jiuhua, is located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China and bounded to the east by the East China Sea. Jiuhuashan, also called Mount Jiuhua, is located at Qingyang County, Chizhou City in Anhui Province. Jiuhuashan is in the west of Shanghai, about 430 kilometers away. To travel between Shanghai and Mount Jiuhua, travelers can take flights, trains, Long-distance buses, or private cars.

By High-Speed Train: Chinzhou Railway Station is the closet high-speed train station to Mount Jiuhua. Every day, from about 6am to 6 pm, there are about 16 high speed bullet trains leaving from Shanghai Railway Station/Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station for Chizhou Railway Station with the duration about 3.5 to 4 hours.

By Flight: 30km away from Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area, Chizhou Jiuhuashan Airport serves seasonal direct flights to/from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (IATA: SHA). The duration on the flight is about 1.5 hours. Since flights are few and extra hours are needed before your boarding, the actual duration is about the same by high-speed train, and taking a bullet train is much more preferable.

Beijing, about 1200 km away from Beijing, is located far to the north of Mount Jiuhua. With flights and high-speed trains, tourists can make the transfer between the two cities directly / via Hefei.

By High-Speed Train: Every day, at around 3 pm, there is one high speed bullet train leaving from Beijing South Railway Station to Chizhou Railway Station with the duration about 6.5 hours. For more options, you can get to Chizhou Raiwlay Station from Beijing via Hefei South Railway Station.

By Flight: There are only few direct flights from Beijing Daxing Airport/Beijing Capital Airport to Chizhou Airport, the closet airport to Mount Jiuhua. However, you have muiltiple choices of taking a flight to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui. From Hefei, you can easily transfer to Mount Jiuhua by high-speed train or bus.

Hefei is the capital city of Anhui Province, about 195 km to the south of Mount Jiuhua. It is easily to make a transfer here to Chizhou, the city Mount Jiuhua located. Both direct buses and high-speed trains are available.

By High-Speed Train: Every day, from about 7 am to 8:30 pm, there are about 17 high speed bullet trains leaving from Hefei South Railway Station for Chizhou Railway Station with the duration about 1.5 hours.

By Bus: There are over 8 long distance buses from Hefei Central Bus Station/Hefei South Bus Station to Chizhou Bus Station with a duration of about 2.5 hours. Please be noted the location of the right bus station.

By Private Car: It takes only about 2.5 hours by car. The private car is also an option and doesn’t take a long time.

Get from Yellow Mountain to Mount Jiuhua

Known as the most picturesque mountain in China, Yellow Mountain (aka Huangshan Mountain, Mount Huang) is the top umissable site in Anhui Province, while the famous sacred Buddhist mountain - Mount Jiuhua is only 120km away from it, and it needs about 2 hours to drive between them. Usuaully, tourists would choose to transfer between them by bus, high-speed train, or private car.

By Private Car: It takes only about 2 hours by car. The private car is also an option and doesn’t take a long time.

By High-Speed Train: There is no high speed train between Yellow Mountain and Mount Jiuhua or Huangshan City and Chizhou City. You can take a high speed train from Huangshan to Tongling first and then transfer to Chizhou. There are over 15 high speed trains running from Huangshan North Railway Station to Tongling North Railway Station, and Tongling North Railway operates about 10 high speed trains to Chizhou Railway Station every day. After you get to Chizhou, you can eaily transfer to Mount Jiuhua.

By Bus: After your Yellow Mountain sightseeing, you can turn to Mount Jiuhua by bus. Yellow Mountain Scenic Area (about 2 daily buses), Tangkou Town (about 2 daily buses) and Huangshan City (about 2 daily buses) operate daily buses to Mount Jiuhua.

Get from Jingdezhen to Mount Jiuhua

Known as the "Porcelain Capital", Jingdezhen has been producing Chinese ceramics for at least 1,000 years. It is located in the northeastern Jiangxi Province, bordering Ahui to the north. It is only about 230km away from Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area (about 4 hours by car). Since there is not any train connecting the two sites directly, you can only transfer between them by highway. People usually charter a car or take a bus from Jingdezheng to Chizhou.

By Bus: It takes about 4 hours to reach Chinzhou Bus Station by bus. There are only few buses departing around the noon time from Jingdezhen West Bus Station. After getting to Chizhou Bus Station, you can take a direct tourist bus or taxi to Mount Jiuhua Scenic Area.

By Private Car: Private car is much more recommended and it takes less time than the bus.

▶ Sightseeing Bus: After arriving at Jiuhua Mountain Tourist Service Center, you need to take the internal sightseeing bus to Yingxianqiao ticket gate - the entrance of the scenic spot, or you can drive there. You can take the internal sightseeing bus to the Tiantai scenic area via Jiuhua Street scenic area, while Huatai scenic area is in a different direction and is not accessible by car from other two areas. The internal sightseeing bus fare is CNY 50 per person with three internal routes:

Huxingshan (Jiuhua Street Area) - Phoenix Old Pine (Tiantai Area): about 7.5km
