Train from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou

From: Chengdu East Railway Station 成都东站

To (Present): Zhenjiangguan Railway Station 镇江关站

To (Future): Huanglongjiuzhai Railway Station 黄龙九寨站

Taking high-speed trains to the nearest railway station to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong scenic areas is the most cost-effective way for tourist from Chengdu to reach the nearest railway station to Jiuzhaigou, present Zhenjiangguan Railway Station, in about 1.5 hour. In normal days, there are about 3 daily trains from Chengdu East Railway Station to Zhenjiangguan Railway Station, 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.

Zhenjiangguan Railway Station is still 85 kilometers away from Huanglong National Park and 147 kilometers away from Jiuzhaigou National Park, and it takes at least 1.5 hours and 2.5 hours to drive separately with the road condition intact and without stopping in the middle. Independent travellers who are on a budget but fluent in Chinese can take free public buses to Songzhou Bus Station first, then transfer to long-distance buses (extra cost, better to book the tickets in advance) to reach the Jiuzhaigou Valley entrance. Two-bus-transfer takes at least 4 hours.

Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong

Taking flight is the most convenient way for tourist from Chengdu to reach jiuzhaigou airport in about 40 minutes to 1 hour. In normal days, there are about 2 daily flights from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport, and in peak season, these flights might be more frequent.

Note: Jiuzhaigou airport is still a long way from Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, and the actual flight schedule and frequency to Jiuzhaigou are subject to change from time to time.

Get around Jiuzhaigou

After your arrival at Jiuzhaigou, you still need to make a transfer to the scenic area for the airport is 88km away from Jiuzhaigou scenic area(about 1.5 hours by car) and 50km away from Huanglong scenic area (about 1 hour by car)

There are shuttle buses from the airport to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, which may take 2 hours and over 1 hour respectively. Since Jiuzhaigou Airport mainly serves for the tourists and the departure schedule of the shuttle bus is subject to change according to the flights, and you may need to charter a car during the off season when the shuttle bus is limited.

Bus from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou

From: Xinnanmen Bus Station (新南门客运站) / Chadianzi Bus Station (茶店子客运站)

Taking a bus is an economical way from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou but it takes as much time as 8-10 hours, according to the weather and traffic conditions. Usually, the buses from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou depart on early morning at around 7 am from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station / Chadianzi Bus Station. Normally, each bus station operates 4 buses to Jiuzhaigou every day and there will be more during the peak season.
