I went on a private tour in Wudang mountain in January 2023, just before the Chinese new year. Wudang mountain is famous for being the sacred place of Daoism in China and one of the centers of Chinese martial arts, a proper branch that is closely related to dao religious practice. I live in China and I am a martial arts practitioner myself, so I wanted a tailored trip which would include both visiting the major landmarks (and, believe me, there are plenty of them, and you have to be ready to climb very steep steps for quite a long time) and meeting some prominent local shifus - this is what we call the martial arts masters, and some practicing as well. Quite complicated to organize, because it was just one week before the Lunar new year. Chunjie, or the Spring festival is the most important and longest of all festivals in China...that is the time of mass travelling which right now, after the epidemic situation was cancelled, was expected to heap up tremendously. Fortunately, I found the right way - the right travel agency and the right agent, Vivien. Vivien impressed me twice - the first was her English which is close to a native speakers', and the second - she showed a very professional approach and succeeded to organize my tour the best possible. I was met at the airport by an English-speaking tour guide (not that my Chinese is so poor, but when you listen to the history of palaces and temples which are hundreds of years old, it is recommendable to listen the language which is your first one). The tour guide, Cathy, was very polite and expedient, and I was lucky to see and do more for the time than it was really planned. During the trip a sudden change of the schedule was to be done, I contacted Vivien and she sorted out the problem very soon. I was lucky to see the most remarkable spots, learnt a lot, and met a really impressive wushu master and did practiced under his guidance. The time was perfect, because the pilgrims' crowds only flooded the scenic area of Wudang a few days later...The weather was cold, there was snow upstairs and that gave me a good chance to take some wonderful photos, too. In conclusion, I would recommend both China discovery and Vivien in particular as professional organizers who you can trust.

I’ve always booked long trips with China Discovery so this was a nice change for me to book a day trip. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the Olympic stadium first and then it was off to the Mutianyu section of the great wall. Our guide Kai was really knowledgeable about the history of the section and Beijing in general. He also knew a great deal about the specific architecture of the towers and their purpose during war times. We were very lucky when we went as we had the whole wall to ourselves. After we were done hiking to the different watch towers our driver took us back to our hotel. We had a fab day and will be sure to book a day trip again!

China Discovery helped us plan a great trip to Wudang Mountain (Wudang Shan) in Hubei Province. We went for 3 nights in late December 2022. Rita helped us to plan and book our trip on very short notice. Our tour guide, Amy, was wonderful and met us at the exit of the train station. She was patient, kind, and helpful the entire time. She was knowledgeable about everything, and she even helped us at mealtimes to find foods that the kids would enjoy. Amy was an excellent tour guide, and we wouldn't have been able to do it without her. China Discovery really gave us a wonderful experience that we will not forget.

I loved the trip! Our guide, Amy, was wonderful and so knowledgeable. The hotel in the maintains was incredible ~ amazing view from the room, excellent location at the base of the cable car and near the restaurants and bus station. Amy recommended the Cable Hotel for food so we ate there both nights, the second night sat outside, which had a great atmosphere compared to sitting inside. We went to Golden Summit at 8:30am, which meant we missed most of the crowds. The hotel breakfast was excellent in the mountains although they didn't have hot water or tea so had to ask. The school we went to was brilliant. So tranquil in the mountains. We had a massage, did some calligraphy and practiced some Taiji warm ups on the terrace at sunset, which was perfect, as it was cooler. The view was stunning and so peaceful, I loved just sitting to listen to the birds! We couldn't see the museum, as it closed early which was a shame. We had coffee across the road instead, so wasn't a wasted trip there! I learnt so much more about Taiji and Taoism, which has definitely helped in my practice.

Vivien Li connected with us when I send an email request to China Discovery Tour. We wanted to schedule a party if 15 to head from Wuhan to Wudangshan. At first we wanted to travel by train but try to manage luggage and large group were too much. Vivien helped us locate a smoke free - Top Zero Hotel on top of the mountain in Nanyang Palace area. It’s was a magnificent choice. Beautiful place, clean and calm.

Vivien scheduled a stress free tour of 4 days and 3 night stay in Wudangshan mountain. She arranged a tour bus and guide to pick us up at Wuhan pier and drove us to the entrance of the mountain. We then switched to the public bus ( there’s no private cars allowed inside the Wudangshan mountain) to get to the front of our hotel.

we walked the Jinding mountain section, spent the night at Top Zero and then visited the Nanyang Palace section. Most of these demands lots of steps which is also not very uniform. We all felt that staying on top of the mountain relieves lots of pressure from traveling from the town to the top of the mountain (which is a 50 minutes curved road.) Vivien is a wonderful travel consultant as she answers all our questions via email and her English skills are excellent. She is always timely in answering our questions especially we have to have our group picked up and drop off at a special location in Wuhan.

I would recommend anyone to use China Discovery tour and Vivien Lu as a travel consultant.

We used China Discovery to do a 3 day tour of Wudang Mountain. The person who planned our tour, Tracy Tan, was very responsive and found us an English speaking guide, "Anna", in Wudang who was a wonderful guide during our 3 days in Wudang.

There were one or two hiccups in the trip as the train planning from Wuhan to Wudang could have been a little smoother but all in all it was a wonderful trip.

My advice is to request the 5 star accomodations when asked. A 5 star hotel in Wudang Mountain is comparable to our La Quinta. I can only imagine what the 3 star accomodations are like. Go with the "5 star".
