You are suggested to stay at least 3 full days to explore all three best and equally important highlights - Wulingyuan National Park, Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, Tianmen Mountain. While the biggest as well as the most modern city of China - Shanghai also provides an exciting adventure - climbing up to one of the highest building in the world and enjoying a thrilling sky walk. You can also spend some time visit other city highlights, such as the Bund, Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, etc. In this 6 days trip, you will visit Zhangjiajie first, then take a flight to Shanghai, which takes only about 2 hours - well connected, and without waste of your time.

Day 1 Zhangjiajie Arrival

Welcome to Zhangjiajie! Upon arrival, be greeted by our tour guide in the airport or train station who is holding a sign on which says your name. A comfortable vehicle (non-smoking) with experienced driver will transfer you directly to your hotel in the Zhangjiajie downtown area. Your guide will help you check in. The rest of today is on your own to explore this beautiful city.

Arrival ideas:

Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport is 6km from downtown area. It has flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Qingdao and more destinations in China. while Zhangjiajie Railway Station is about 2 km from downtown area. Trains are connected Zhangjiajie with Changsha (6 hrs), Yichang (5 hrs), Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Guangzhou, etc.

Day 2 Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon - Yellow Dragon Cave (B, L)

After breakfast, be ready for today's exciting adventures. You'll first drive about 60km from Zhangjiajie downtown area to visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. You will start from the Tourist Center to Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge to walk on the highest and longest glass bridge in the world. After that, appreciate the charming sightseeing of running waters, flying waterfalls, lush vegetation, etc. at the Rainbow Square, Yilian Youmeng, Momo Cave, the Holy Spring Lake and other beautiful attractions in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. (Please note: In Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, you can choose to only experience the thrilling glass bridge or fully explore glass bridge as well as hiking and boating in the Grand Canyon. Feel free to tell your likes to your travel consultants.)

Next, you’ll drive about 20km to see the natural wonder in the Yellow Dragon Cave, also known as Huanglong Cave. It is a underground-lost palace which is praised as the most beautiful cave in the world by UNESCO Experts, with an area of 100,000 square meters, a length of 7.6 kilometers, a height of 140 meters. There are two underground rivers, four waterfalls, 13 caverns and 10,000 stalagmites and stalactites is this huge limestone cave. The Magic Needle and Chair of Dragon King are two most famous sights in the cave. 

After the sightseeing, drive to Wulingyuan to check in your hotel.

Please Note: The regular itinerary for the Day 2 is  to visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and walk the Glass Bridge in the morning, then drive to Zhangjiajie National Forest Pak to visit Huangshi Village and Golden Whip Brook in the afternoon. But we have to replace Huangshi Village and Golden Whip Brook with Yellow Dragon Cave because currently the road between Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and Huangshi Village and Golden Whip Brook is under a big reconstruction (will complete in early 2019).

Day 3 Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (B, L)

After breakfast, start your full-day Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Adventure. Located 32 kilometers from Zhangjiajie city, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the first state-level forest park in China. It is known for its exquisite forests, odd-shaped peaks and rocks, the beautiful canyons, the limestone caves, and the breath-taking panoramic views. The words, such as majestic, eccentric, tranquil, delicate and wild, are not enough to describe it's beauty. 

Firstly, go to take the 326-meter-high Bailong Elevator (the tallest and the fastest in the world) up to Yuanjiajie, which is situated in the north of Zhangjiajie National Park. This scenic area is world famous as the mountains here inspired the floating mountains in the Hollywood movie Avatar. The peaks in Yuanjiajie are nearly at the same height, which makes it a mountain platform great for enjoying sweeping vistas.

Next, take a sightseeing bus to Tianzi Mountain, where you can have a stunning view of the peaks rising one after another. Atop of the mountain offers a full extent of the whole scenic area, which is magnificent and spectacular. There are four wonders in Tianzi Mountain: the Sea of Clouds, the Radiance of the Moonlight, Rays of Sunshine and the Snow in winter.

After the exciting tour, your guide and driver will escort you to Zhangjiajie downtown area to check in your hotel.

Day 4 Tianmen Mountain National Park & Flight to Shanghai (B, L)

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. On this day, you’ll first take a trip to Tianmen Mountain. Referred to as the “Soul of culture and spirit of Zhangjiajie”, Tianmen Mountain, standing 1,500 meters above sea level, boasts miraculous and unique geographic landform, unparalleled natural landscape, profound cultural connotations.

Experience the longest cableway in Asia with a length of 7200 meters, take photos of Avenue toward Heaven with 99 turns from cable car. On the top of Tianmen Mountain, enjoy the Cliff-Hanging Walkway and avoid the crowds to take some photos; hold your breath and experience the thrilling Glass Sky Walk. Then, visit the natural mountain-penetrating Karst cave - Tianmen Cave. The foot of the cave is wonderful photo opportunity with the hole in the mountain as the background. It is worth waiting for the sunlight to shine through the hole with mist or smoke illuminating the way.

After the tour, your guide and driver will escort you the airport to catch your flight to Shanghai. Upon arriving at Shanghai airport, you will be met by local tour guide, and escorted to check in your hotel.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to start your Shanghai exploration. Your first stop is Shanghai Museum, one of the Best Four Museums in China. This modern museum, with a round top and a square base which symbolizing the ancient Chinese perception of the world as "round sky, square earth", has collected many international-standard exhibits of bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, jade from more than 5,000 years ago to the Qing dynasty. To help you learn about the history and facts about the relics in the museum easily, an Audio Explanation Device will be prepared for you. Next, you will take an interesting visit to Yu Garden, a shining star among all the ancient Chinese gardens in Jiangnan. This garden fully embodies the traditional design of Chinese architecture with jagged pavilions with elegant decorations, glittering pools with roving fish, and pine trees sprouting to the sky, all designed to refresh your mood and spirit. Adjacent to the garden is the Yuyuan Bazaar where you can savor tasteful local snacks and explore elaborate traditional Chinese handicrafts and art works. Next, you will drive several kilometers to enjoy a panoramic view of the modern face of Shanghai from the 100th floor (474m) of “the Eye of Shanghai” Shanghai World Financial Center.

You will then be transferred to another popular landmark of Shanghai, Nanjing Road, a shopping paradise as well as a great place to take a wonderful walk to experience the modern atmosphere of the City. Lastly, you will stop at the Bund, originally a simple towpath for transporting goods but now transformed into a feverish trading district. You will stroll along the Bund, seeing and feeling the perfect fusion of Chinese and Western cultures while at the same time taking in the stunning Shanghai skyline with your own eyes!

Optional Activity - Take a relaxing Huangpu River night cruise to see the city’s most significant edifices and streets sparkling under the atmospheric cover of darkness (about 50 minutes).

Day 6 Shanghai Departure (B, L)

Have you wondered why Shanghai developed into a modern, vibrant and cosmopolitan city from what was originally a shabby fishing village? This morning’s tour to Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center will answer that question fully while also giving you an overview of the City’s ambitious plans for future. The Center is a fashionably designed modern museum, themed with “City, Citizens, Environment and Development”. Different usages of photography, models and interactive multimedia displays make your visit enjoyable and entertaining. The best features are the old rare photos of landmarks, such as the Bund, Nanjing Road, Yu Garden, during the international settlement, and the large scale model showing the detailed layout of Shanghai.

Next is a wonderful visit to Jade Buddha Temple, the site of the largest jade Buddha in the world and numerous religious artifacts, ancient statues and Buddhist scriptures. This peaceful kingdom of Buddhism hidden among modern blocks and dominating mansions is a great place for a nice break in this very busy city.

In the afternoon, your guide will escort you to the airport for your flight to next destination or home.
