Shanghai Zhengzhou High Speed Railway has operated to connect Shanghai City in the east of China with Zhengzhou (Shaolin Temple) in Henan Province in the Central part in China. It has greatly shortened the time transferring between Shanghai and Zhengzhou, the distance of which is about 940 kilometers and usually needs about 11.5 hours by driving. Since the opening of the Shanghai Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, taking a bullet train to go from Shanghai to Zhengzhou and from Zhengzhou to Shanghai becomes very conveninet, which needs only about 4 to 7 hours. Besides, travellers can also visit hot tourist destinations like Suzhou, Nanjing, Kaifeng, etc. to enjoy the charming culture, history and sceneries in China.

Shanghai runs more than 25 high speed trains to Zhengzhou daily, including lots of G trains and 2 D trains. The G trains depart from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station from about 06:00 to 22:50. Most G trains take around 5 hours and the fastest G train just runs less than 4 hours. The D trains are overnight bullet trains which leave Shanghai Railway Station in the late evening and arrive in Zhengzhou Railway Station next morning.

Besides, every day, there are over 15 normal trains starting from Shanghai to Zhengzhou between about 09:00 and 21:00. These trains are all K, T and Z trains running at a slower speed and with simple facilities and most are overnight trains with over 10 hours’ ride. Though the tickets are much cheaper than that of the high speed train, the long duration and less-comfortable and inconvenient environment make the normal train travel not a good choice.

Distance: about 4 km/15 minutes’ driving to the downtown area; 37 km/40-50 minutes’ driving to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport; only 2 km/10 minutes’ driving to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station(郑州长途汽车中心站); about 140 km/2 hours’ driving to Luoyang Longmen Grottoes; nearly 100 km/2 hours’ ride to Shaolin Temple; 94 km/1 hour 20 minutes’ driving to Yuntai Mountain (Jiaozuo).
Transfer Tips: Zhengzhou Railway Station is very close to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station (郑州长途汽车中心站), which dispatches direct bus to Shaolin Temple (about 2.5 hours). Also, you can take intercity train from Zhengzhou Railway Station to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (about 30 minutes); Zhengzhou East Railway Station (about 15 minutes), Kaifeng (about 20 minutes) and Jiaozuo (about 40 minutes).

On Shanghai Zhengzhou high speed trains, there are three types of seats: the "Business Class Seats" like the first class seat in an aircraft and the most comfortable and expensive, with the price of 1627.5RMB per person, the "First Class Seats" of the middle class of 824.5RMB per person and the "Second Class Seats" of the most economical class of 515.5RMB per person.
