Guangzhou is a city overwhelming with energy, color and sheer size. If you want to extend your Shanghai tour to Guangzhou, it is available to take a high speed train. Shanghai operates 4 daily high speed G-trains to Guangzhou. At 8:00, the earliest train G85 departs from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and arrives at Guangzhou South Railway Station at 14:51. It is also the fastest Shanghai Guangzhou High Speed Train which takes 6 hours and 51 minutes. The other three trains take about 7.5 ~ 8.5 hours. Sometimes, there might be available D-trains running from Shanghai to Guangzhou. And all the D trains are overnight train and the whole journey cost about 11.5 hours. Moreover, three normal trains are also available to travel from Shanghai to Guangzhou, but they take 16.5 ~ 23.5 hours.

Located in No.1500, Shengui Road, Minhang District, West Shanghai (上海市闵行区申贵路1500号), Shanghai Railway Stations> is the main train Station in Shanghai. Taking metro Line 2, you can get to People’ Sqaure, Shanghai Financial Center, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Pundong International Airport, etc. Taking metro Line 10, you can travel to Yuyuan Garden, Xintiandi, the Bund, and Terminal 1 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Guangzhou South Railway Station (Guangzhounan Railway Station, 广州南站)
Located in Shibi Street, Panyu District, Guangzhou City (广州市番禺区石壁街道), Guangzhou South Railway Station is Guangzhou’s main railway station. From this railway Station, you can catch metro Lin3 2 to Guangzhou downtown, Yuexiu Park, Six Banyan Tree, Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall, Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Types of SeatsThere are Second Class Seats, First Class Seats and Business Class Seats on most high speed G-trains. The second class is the standard type at a budget price. The First Class Seats feature in much quieter and more comfortable environment. The Business Class Seats offer a luxury experience onboard. Book, Collect, Alter and Cancel a Ticket
The train ticket can be booked online, with a ticket agency, at the ticket offices in railway stations etc. Remember to book your ticket as soon as possible, especially in the peak seasons. Reading tickets carefully to make sure that you get to the correct railway station and board the correct train. For foreign travelers without Chinese ID card, you have to collect, alter and cancel your train ticket from the ticket offices. Board & Disembark a Train
1) Prepare your documents well (passport, visa); 2) Get to the right trains station in advance 3) collect train tickets; 4) Read your train ticket; 5) Pass the Identity Check; 6) Security check & luggage check; 7) Find right waiting room; 8) Cross the ticket checking gate; 9) Get to the right platform; 10) Get on your train. Each passenger is able to take a high speed train with personal luggage in certain weight and volume without limitation of amount and types. Generally, the luggage won’t be weighed and measured specifically, so you can take as much as you can hand it independently and place it in the train station.
