The earliest train D2214 departs from Chongqing North Railway Station at 07:15 and arrives at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. Other high speed trains all depart in the morning and arrive at night as well. The whole trip takes about 10.5 ~ 13 hours.

Chongqing Shanghai High Speed Train Route

The most frequently-used high speed railway from Chongqing to Shanghai is 1,672km (1,228 miles) long. It passes through Hubei Province, Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province. This railway has 18 midway train stations, like Yichang West (宜昌东), Hefei South (合肥南), Nanjing South (南京南), Suzhou (苏州), etc. Since it takes about 12 hours from Chongqing to Shanghai by high speed train, you can take a stop in the midway cities, such as Yichang, Nanjing and Suzhou. It is also popular to take a Yangtze River Cruise from Chongqing to Yichang first, and then visit Shanghai by high speed train.

Chongqing North Railway Station (Chongqingbei Railway Station, 重庆北站)

Chongqing North Railway Station, consisting North Square Hall and South Square Hall, is the most important railway station in Chongqing. It North Square Hall operates high speed trains and South Square Hall operate normal trains. Both light rail Line 3 and Line 10 can take you to Chongqing North Railway Station from the downtown of Chongqing. However, if you take light rail Line 3, you need to get off at Longtou Temple Station, and then walk about 10 minutes to the North Square Hall of Chongqing North Railway Station. Traveling from Chaotianmen Port and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport to this railway station, taking a taxi is the most convenient and time-saving means.

Chongqing West Railway Station (Chongqingxi Railway Station, 重庆西站)

Chongqing West Railway Station was into put into operation in early 2018. It serves as Chongqing's connection with cities across south-western and north-western China, like Xian, Guiyang, Kunming, etc. Located in Fengzhong Road, Shapingba District of Chongqing City (重庆市沙坪坝区凤中路168号), Chongqing West Railway Station is 20km (about 45 minutes' driving) to Chaotianmen Port and 40km (about 50 minutes' driving) to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station (上海虹桥站)

Operating 505 daily high speed trains, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is the busiest railway station. It is located in No. 1500, Mingui Road, Minhang District (上海市闵行区申贵路1500号), about 20km away from the city center of Shanghai. From Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, you can drive about 40 minutes to the Bund, 40 minutes to Shanghai Museum, 45 minutes to Yuyuan Garden and 50 minutes to Lujiazui. Taking metro Line 10, you can get to the Bund, Xintiandi and Yuyuan Garden. It is also available to take mtro Line 2. Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and the Terminal 2 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport are linked by a passage and you can walk between them directly.

Shanghai Railway Station (上海站)

Shanghai Railway Station is situated in No. 303, Moling Road, Jing'an District (上海市静安区秣陵路303号), 5 kilometers to the Bund, 5 kilometers to Shanghai Museum, 7 kilometers to Yuayuan Garden, 20 kilometers to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and 50 kilometers to Shanghai Pundong Airport. Located in the downtown area, it is linked with metro Line 1, Line 3 and Line 4. There are airport shuttle buses running between Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai Pundong Airport as well. Book, Collect, Alter and Cancel a Ticket

The train ticket can be booked online, with a ticket agency, at the ticket offices in railway stations etc. Remember to book your ticket as soon as possible, especially in the peak seasons. Reading tickets carefully to make sure that you get to the correct railway station and board the correct train. Board & Disembark a Train

1) Prepare your documents well (passport, visa); 2) Get to the right trains station in advance 3) collect train tickets; 4) Read your train ticket; 5) Pass the Identity Check; 6) Security check & luggage check; 7) Find right waiting room; 8) Cross the ticket checking gate; 9) Get to the right platform; 10) Get on your train.
