Broadly, there are two pairs of high speed trains and one pair of bullet trains running between Beijing and Kunming from 8:00am to 16:22pm every day. G403 (the faster one) and G405 trains depart from Beijing to Kunming while G404 (with shorter duration) and G406 trains run in the opposite direction. All the four G trains are scheduled leaving in the morning and arriving in the evening and the two D trains are overnight trains departing in afternnon and arrving in the morning.

Beijing Kunming High Speed Railway, as long as 2,760km (1,715miles), is a combined high speed railway connecting Beijing, in north China and Kunming, in southwest China. It begins from Beijing West Railway Station in Beijing, and then runs southward on Beijing Changsha segment of Beijing Guangzhou High Speed Railway, later turns to westward regions to Kunming South Railway Station in Kunming on Shanghai Kunming High Speed Railway via Guiyang. The total train travel takes around 11 hours to 12.5 hours. Besides, the rail line can be extended further to Dali by bullet trains (2 hours ~ 3 hours) and to Lijiang by normal trains (9 hours ~ 9.5 hours). Beijing West Railway Station (北京西站)

Beijing West Railway Station is located at No.118, East Lianhuachi Road, Fengtai District, Beijing (北京市丰台区莲花池东路118号),about 25mins’ driving to Forbidden City and 1 hour’s driving to Beijing Capital International Airport. It serves the Beijing Guangzhou High Speed Railway, Beijing Lhasa (Tibet) Railway and Beijing Kowloon (Hong Kong) Railway. From the station, passengers can take more than 250 trains travel around China to Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Kunming, Taiyuan, and Zhengzhou and so on. Currently, the train station can be reached via taxi, bus, airport express and subway (Beijing Metro Line 7 and Line 9). Kunming South Railway Station (昆明南站)

Kunming South Railway Station is located at Xiangyuan Street, Chenggong District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province (云南省昆明市呈贡区祥园街), about 50 mins’ driving to downtown, 1.5 hours' driving to Stone Forest, 4 hours' driving to Dongchuan Red Land, 40 mins' driving to Dragon Gate and Kunming Changshui International Airport. The station offers passenger service to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Changsha, Kaili, Guiyang on Shanghai Kunming High Speed Railway, to Puzhegei on Nanning Kunming High Speed Railway and to Zunyi and Guiyang on Chongqing Kunming High Speed Railway.
