Five Railway Stations in Taiyuan

Taiyuan South Railway Station – Only High Speed Train Railway Station

Address: Beiying North Road, Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City (太原市小店区北营北路)

Taiyuan South Railway Station is the busiest Railway Station of Taiyuan now. It enjoys a featured palatial architecture and elegant decoration. As the only high speed train railway station in Taiyuan, it is a major station along Datong-Taiyuan-Xian High Speed rail.

How to Travel to/around Taiyuan South Railway Station

Taiyuan South Railway Station to Taiyuan City: Taiyuan South Railway Station is about 12 kilometers away from the Yingze Park (city center), and it needs to drive about 25 minutes to travel between them usually. There are many public buses available to take you from Taiyuan South Railway Station to the city center and some other attractions are located in the city center as well, like Chongshan Temple, Shanxi Museum, Twin Pagoda Temple, etc.

Taiyuan South Railway Station to Jinci Temple: Jinci Temple, the highlight of Taiyuan, is located in the northern suburb of Taiyuan city, 24km (about 35 minutes' drive) to Taiyuan South Railway Station. There is one direct bus running between Jinci Temple and Taiyuan South Railway, taking about 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Taiyuan South Railway Station to Airport: Taiyuan Wusu International Airport is about 7km away from Taiyuan South Railway Station and you can travel between by driving, taxi or bus. It needs about 15 minutes to drive usually. If you choose public bus, you need to transfer and the whole trip takes more than one hour usually.

Taiyuan Railway Station – Normal Train Station

Address: No.2 Jianshe South Road, Yingze District, Taiyuan City (山西省太原市迎泽区建设南路2号)

Compared with Taiyuan South Railway Station, Taiyuan Railway Station is a quite old one with a history of over 100 years. Till now, it still functions as an important transfer hub for the railway lines of Datong-Puzhou, Shijiangzhuang-Taiyuan, Taiyuan-Jiaozuo, Taiyun-Zhongwei-Yinchuan, Beijing-Yuanping and Jeixiu-Xiaoyi.

How to Get to/around Taiyuan Railway Station

Taiyuan Railway Station to Taiyuan City Center: In fact, Taiyuan Railway Station is located in the downtown area of Taiyuan, within 3km's distance (about 10 minutes' drive). It is quite easy to walk or take a public bus to the nearby attractions, like Chongshan Temple, Twin Pagoda Monastery, Shanxi Museum, etc.

Taiyuan Railway Station to Jinci Temple: The distance between Taiyuan Railway Station of Jinci Temple is 30km, about 45 minutes' drive. Public bus is accessible to travel between them, and it takes about 1.5 ~ 2 hours usually.

Taiyuan Railway Station to Taiyuan Wusu International Airport: Driving is the most convenient way to travel between Taiyuan Railway Station and Taiyuan Wusu International Airport is driving directly, take about 30 minutes.
