Beijing and Tibet transfer condition overviews
The straight distance from Beijing to Lhasa is about 3216km. Since Lhasa is the transportation center of Tibet, tourists usually get from Beijing to Lhasa by flight or train.
Taking flight is the fastest transfer between Beijing and Lhasa, which takes about 4 to 5 hours fly with a distance of 3004km. The Beijing Capital International Airport and Lhasa Gongga Airport serve several airline companies which provide non-stop flights and stop flights between Beijing and Lhasa. So far, there is no flight connecting Beijing with other airports in Tibet except Lhasa Gongga Airport.
Beijing Capital International Airport (BJS): Siwei Road,Capital Airport,Beijing,China, approximately 35km away from center of Beijing. You can get airport by subway, or use our private transfer service.
Shuangliu Gongga Airport (LXA): Jiazhulin Town, Gongga County, Lhasa, China, approximately 58km away from Potala Palace. You can get airport by airport bus, or use our private transfer service.
There is daily train travel between Beijing and Lhasa with a distance of 3753km. There are hard seats, hard sleeper and soft sleeper seats. You are suggested to book the soft sleeper seats due to the long staying on the train. The highlight of train travel between Beijing and Tibet is the 110km long Qinghai Tibet Railway with breathtaking scenery along the railway.

Beijing to Lhasa Flights
There are many schedules of flight from Beijing to Lhasa, including two non-stop flights, several stop by flights and some connecting flights. Non-stop flights take about 4.5 hours from Beijing to Lhasa, while the stops by flights take about 6~7 hours and the connecting flights take more time and money.
So far there are two non-stop flights – CA4125 (07:40am-12:15pm) and TV3916 (12:35am-17:00pm). Chengdu and Xian usually are often used as stop by hub for some flights from Beijing to Lhasa, such as CA4112 and MU2102.

Beijing to Lhasa Train
There is daily departure train Z21 serve travelers who want to go to Tibet by train. You can take the Z21 train at Beijing West Railway Station which leaves at 20:10. Before your arrival at Lhasa Railway Station at 13:08 of third day, you will stop by 8 midway stations in Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Zhongwei, Lanzhou, Xining, Delingha, Gulmud, Ngachu. The whole train journey takes about 41 hours traveling 3753km. It is some normal landscape of villages, towns and mountains before getting to Xining, but after passing Xining to the Hoh Xil to Ngachu, you will totally shocked by the wonderful plateau landscape. The rail part from Xining to Lhasa is a good process of acclimating to the high altitude of Qinghai Tibet Plateau.
