5 Days Impressive Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang Tour with Family

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is China's first national forest park, and I guess most people get to know it through the famous movie “AVATAR”, especially for foreign travelers. I was also impressed by the “Hallelujah Mountain” in the movie and determined to find the real mountain. My dream came true this November. I chose Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang as destinations of my annual vacation. I spent 5 days to visit this area with my parents, and everything was worth it. I had 3 days in Zhangjiajie and about 1.5 days in Fenghuang Ancient Town, and here below are highlights of the tour.

1. Yuanjiajie Scenic Area

As I mentioned, I was longed to witness the Hallelujah Mountain, and finally, I saw the real mountain in Yuanjiajie! I actually couldn’t think of a proper word to describe my feelings at that time. It was just breathtaking. And one thing that came into my mind is that I hope my friends and people who like natural beauty could see the same view. 

Besides the Hallelujah Mountain, I was also amazed by the First Bridge Under Heaven which is a perfect example of the uncanny workmanship of nature.

2. Golden Whip Stream

Another place I would like to recommend is the Golden Whip Stream. Golden Whip Stream is called the most poetic stream in the world with many scenic spots scattered along the stream. I cannot say if it’s the best one in the world, but I entirely enjoyed the hike along the Golden Whip Stream. It took me about 2 hours to finish the hike. The path is flat and easy for senior travelers as well.

3. Tianmen Mountain

When I visited Tianmen Mountain, I didn’t get the chance to experience the longest cable car as it was under maintenance (try it if you can!). Unfortunately, the mountain was shrouded in clouds and mist. But, I did see a spectacular snow wrapped world. It was so beautiful!

4. Fenghuang Ancient Town

After a few days in Zhangjiajie, Fenghuang Ancient Town is a great place to have some leisure time. I love how peaceful it is in day time as well as how fabulous it is at night. Tuojiang River Boating is surely the must-do highlight in this charming attraction.
